AP Dining Discount for entire party

Two out of the three people on this trip have annual passes. I have read that you can include the dining discount for guests in your party. How does this work? Do you have to put your guests without an AP on the same check as the passholder or can you get separate checks and apply the discount?

I have not seen anywhere online that says you have to have one check.

1) Same check for non-discount eligible people. . . they can reimburse you later.
2) Otherwise, WDW considers it "taking advantage".
3) And, WDW does not like being taken advantage.
