My DH & I will have one room for our stay at the ASSp in December. I have an AP, he does not. My dad will have his own room and he also does not have an AP.

1. Can I purchase the DDP for DH & I without buying any tickets (we don't need them)? The DDP would save us money.

2. Since my dad also doesn't need tickets, but does not have an AP; can he NOT get the DDP yet still eat our meals with us (he could pay OOP for his)?

3. Is adding the DDP to my AP discounted room going to be difficult? When should I do it? (We arrive on December 17)

1. Yes you can
2. Yes he can (is he not going to ANY parks?)
3. Youll want to do it asap because you will have to cancel and refund the room and pay in full for the AP plus dining package.

If you have a room only reservation and want to do an AP plus dining package the room only has to be cancelled and refunded and the new package has to be paid in full if its within 45 days from travel. Disney cant transfer funds from a room only to an AP plus dining package.

mbanks is saying that you can't add the dining plan to a room only reservation, even with an annual pass. Your reservation must be rebooked as a room/dining AP package. Packages have different rules than room only reservations. One of them is, if you are less than 45 days from your checkin date, that you must pay for your package in full when you book it. (Full payment on a package booking is due 45 days from checkin.)

How can she book the dining for her husband without him having the AP and not purchasing any park tickets for him? Can you just add the dining to the room only reguardless of number of guests in the room based on one person having an AP?

Yes. As long as you have one AP you can book the room and dining for everyone on the res without anyone else having passes or tickets

I'm hoping they allow it for 2009 as well. As of right now you aren't able to add the dining plan with a passholder rate.

Youre still able to book dining without buying passes but you cant get the discounted rate until its released for the time youre looking to travel

I've been playing around on the passholder site and wasn't able to do it. I called CRO to ask about it and the CM said as of right now you aren't able to add the dining plan with an AP rate and they don't know if it will be eventually allowed.

Thats what Im saying. You cant book the AP discounted room with dining until the AP rates come out but youre able to book the AP plus dining package at rack rate without tickets

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I've decided to keep my discounted rates and forgo the dining plan. Much simpler to order what we want and pay OOP without disrupting the room arrangements!

But the rates ARE out for January and early Feb :confused3

Then it's possible the discount isn't available at the resort you want for the dates you want.

Or, you got a cast member who doesn't know what they're doing. Try calling back. although if you can't do it on the website, it's possible they aren't able to do that for 2009 packages yet.

That's possible. Or maybe the rates are out for RO, but not a WDTC AP package? :confused3 If they are not out yet, maybe soon.:confused3 Maybe no WDTC AP package with those rates. :confused3 Hard to say really. Depends on the AP code and if there is a comparable package code available.

If the AP room only codes are out then you can make it an AP plus dining package. CRO and WDTC are one in the same now

I'm thinking you can't do it for 2009 yet because I have tried different dates at all different resorts and haven't been able to add it to any of them.
