Anyone recall how far out the AP codes came out for this past early April? (Thought this might still be fresh in someone's mind...)We have a trip planned for next spring break at one of the DVC resorts, but are going to want to add a few nights at a mod. I was just curious as to when I would need to start looking out for one. Right after Christmas?
Thanks!

Prefect, thanks. Anyone recall what the mods were for AP discounts for that time of year?

So this will be peak. Bummer. Actually with our DVC that week isn't. (week starting April 3rd...)

Easter is early this year that is why DVC isn't peak in April. The resorts use a different schedule that encompasses all of spring break Feb.-April.

Someone on another thread suggested I go ahead and book the mod with rack rates now to be safe since my dates are firm, then switch to an AP discount if it becomes available later.
Seems so early. What does everyone think?

I've booked my stay at POR for the end of next April about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I plan on using the AP to get better rates. This is my 1st time using the AP and I sure hope I do get the great discounts I've been reading about, b/c that is why I booked 10 nights. I was told it's best to book now and tell them you'll be using the AP, so at least you have your room. I'm so confused about this AP thing and I just can't seem to get an answer to my question when I call the 407-wdisney line. I'm going to try this again later and I'll let you know what I find out..
:)

Shan, we are planning on a similar trip! Our Spring Break is mid-March, and I want 6 or 7 nights at a DVC (hopefully Wilderness Lodge) plus 2 extra nights. If good rates are available, we are going to splurge on the Poly for the "extra" nights... It was so great this June we are HOOKED.

The mods should be under $100 per night for your trip. My rates have been around $79, $85, $89, in that range. 2 rooms at Riverside this past March was well under $200 including tax.

xoxo

Thanks colleen. We plan on Sunday thru Thursday night at OKW (We haven't switched yet, it is still at BCV right now. We're trying to try all the DVC resorts out right now.) then Friday and Saturday at POFQ hopefully. We don't want to do a value again. Rooms were so small and my oldest was sad there wasn't a slide at PC this past trip. She now thinks all Disney pools should have a slide.
Right now rack rate is $169 for mod peak, plus tax putting it around $189 per night. I hate to pay that! I hope an AP rate does come out.
I guess I'll book this soon just in case and then try to switch to AP come time.
We plan on splurging the following use year and using up ALL our points on a full week at the Poly. It is like a dream vacation to us. We'll do the 3 day cruise beforehand, too. It will be our only Disney trip that year. OUCH! But, we really want to try the Poly. DH stayed there as a kid and has fond memories.

Shannon, the Poly will be WORTH the points. I had plotted our trip so long I thought I would be let-down, and I sure was not. The location can't be beat and having everything right on-site (dining, swimming, etc) was so cool. The broiling weather actually worked to our advantage, because it forced us to RELAX and enjoy the resort (which we shelled out a lot of money for, AP rates or not!) When you guys "blow" some points to stay there, try hard to make time to just hang out. We had the best time just "doing nothing." We'd have breakfast at Kona Cafe then swim all afternoon. Did dinner at Ohana one night and Kona another. Made leis in the lobby, rode the monorail and hung out on the beach. It was divine. If your points can get you there, go for it! I had read in Passporter about the beaches down toward the ticket center. We walked that way and took the most wonderful pictures... Really explored!

I hear you about "rack rates." If no good AP rate is available for spring 2005, I will do a moderate for ONE night and stay the rest on points. I am always trying to juggle points/cash, both of which I never seem to have enough of... Go figure! :) I can't recall if it will be your first trip to OKW. I think you will like it. Not "action-packed" like the Boardwalk, but charming nonetheless. The pool slide will be done by then and your kids can party!

Yep, colleen, it will be my first time at OKW, hubby stayed there with his Dad last March for Braves spring training. I want to stay at all the DVC resorts, before we get stuck on some without trying them all out.

I know we'll spend down time at the Poly. We did this past trip at BWV and it was one of our best trips. Did you get the stuffed toast? Man, I want to try that!

I did find out that the AP rates for next spring will be out sometime in Jan or Feb. Something I forgot to ask the CM is will I be assured to get the AP rates even if my card is not yet activated? Will I be guaranteed AP rates for all 10 nights of my stay or does it only cover a certain amt of time? I won't rest until I get a definite AP price quote for my stay next year! As I stated in my earlier reply, I booked 10 nights b/c I thought I would be able to save lots and lots with the AP. I hope I didn't misunderstand this whole AP thing!

We just got back. We added PC onto our DVC ressies for the first night. I booked the AP rate before I had our APs activated. When we got to WDW we went to DTD first at guest services to get the APs activated, but turns out when we then drove over to PC to check in they never even asked to see it! You'll be fine. Worse case is they'll make you come back up to the desk after you get your AP activated to confirm. They'll still let you check in.

There are no guarantees about AP rates. There's no guarantee that they will even come out at all. There's no guarantee if they come out that they will be available for all 10 nights of your stay. Last September, one of the slowest months of the year, had no AP rates. The cm was just guessing when they said AP rates will be out in Jan or Feb, they don't really know until they actually come out. You don't need to have the AP voucher to make the reservation, so hold off buying it until you actually get the AP room rate.

Thanks. I'm glad I asked on the Dis..seems I always get the answers I need to my questions. I will definitely hold off until I get the rates. The CM made it seem that there are always AP discounts. In fact the 1st time I asked a CM for the AP rate info that girl told me the rates come out in late Aug. or Sept now that I think back. You're right, they must just guess or tell you anything just so you get some sort of answer from them. Oh well, guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that I get a great rate.
