AP Codes are up!

Am I the only one shocked that the Disney Visa and General Public codes are cheaper than the AP codes? Using the Disney Visa I was able to get AS Sports for eight nights (Dec 8th-16th) for $515.47. This includes a $75.62 one day MYW ticket, so the room portion of the ressie is $439.85. When I called yesterday to get the AP discount on the same room, I was quoted $530.96 (and of course this did not include that $75.62 MYW ticket). The General Public code released this morning is for the same price as the Disney Visa (yeah, I called to get another quote). So for the room portion the Visa/General Public code is $439.85 compared to the AP code rate of $533.36. Even buying the required $75.62 one day park ticket (which I don't need) the Visa/General Public code is still cheaper. I asked the CMs about it both yesterday and again this morning and they both said yeah, the CMs had noticed it too and wondered why as AP codes are usually better than General Public Codes. Why bother booking using an AP:confused3 ?

Plus with the Visa/General Public codes I'll be allowed to add the DDP, if I want.

I think you'll be ok but I would call back and make sure your 15 year old DGS's AP is alright to book with. I'm not sure what the rules are concerning a child's pass.

Since a 15 YO has an ADULT AP, you are fine. Now a 3-9 AP would not qualify.

For those who did not get discounts, keep trying! Believe me, I got a room for July 4 weekend of 2006 the week before by constantly checking the AP site!

This is not to be argumentative but just to remind everyone, but this is what is said in the 2007 AP booklet attached to the ticket sleeve:

"Walt Disney World Reosrt Room Discounts: Periodically, a limited number of rooms may be made available at select WDW Resort hotels and Disney Vacation Club Resorts at discounted rates for Passholders. Register at disneyworld.com/passholder to receive emails with information on Passholder resort offers."

Now, nowhere in there does it say expect it, it's a right, or anything along those lines. I agree, AP rates used to be great and were always available, but once again ... they shouldn't be expected (especially now with how many things are being nickled and dimed or going up in price). Believe me, I remember the days of getting ASMu for $49 per night! I still marvel at that!

I do think a letter of appreciation is a good idea for those who have received the discounts. When I called to see if I qualified for the dining card, I told the CM "I'm not expecting it, so I won't ring you out if I don't get it like I'm sure some people may." He laughed and said "What? We NEVER get those people! I don't know what you are talking about!"

And remember, no where in the passholder benefits does it list free dining cards ... and we got em! And if you did not get a discount or code, I agree with an above poster ... contact WDW and tell them (in a nice way) how AP discounts are something their loyal customers enjoy and it would be nice if they could spread the wealth a bit more in the future.

By the way, for those wondering, I went through the disneyworld.com contact us form to send my email:

https://secure.disney.go.com/wdw/contact/contactUs

23,000 rooms on property. I think they could discount a handful of those and service wouldn't suffer.

I think they are discounting a handful, as evidenced by the thread... They just don't happen to be discounting the ones you want...

Demand must be high enough not to require discounting for your resort choices across your dates. Try again later and maybe something will open up... or pick a different resort or dates... :hippie:

where are these general public codes?

Disney Visa codes came out two days ago:
ZQL pkg without dining
ZQM pkg with dining
You had to book a pkg using a Disney Visa that included at least a one day MYW ticket ($75.62) for each person in the room. The room portion for a Value resort came out to about $54.98/day including taxes and $110.99/day including taxes for a Moderate resort. You did not get a discount for park tickets or Dining Plan.

Annual Pass Codes came out yesterday:
FEX
Price for a Value resort came out to about $66.67/day with tax.

General Public Codes came out this morning:
ZQG pkg without dining plan
ZQH pkg with dining plan
The prices are the same as the Disney Visa codes.

In other words the general public and Disney Visa card holders got a better deal than the AP holders. I still can't figure out why people are booking with the AP codes when they can use the general public code and get a better price even having to buy a one day park ticket.:confused3

Well that certainly doesn't seem fair!:sad1:

Your post makes me think that Disney may in fact be trying to do away with or discourage people from buying AP's. They will make more money with the packages that include tickets and dining. I have had passes for many years and have never once bought a package due to the AP always gave us such a nice discount on our rooms as well as some other small perks. If Disney can get ALL our ticket money, food money and resort money then they are money ahead. Not all people buy their tickets at Disney or eat all their meals there so the "package" now seems to be Disney's way to keep us ONSITE for everything. Just a thought...

Quick question...has anyone done the math with a MOD resort? Is the Gen public code better than the AP rate? Just wondering if I should call and change our ressie to a package? If you book a package and do not get the dining with the original ressie can you add it later? Sorry for all the questions but have never used a package. Thanks!!

For several reasons.

One, it's a package, which means it has to be paid in full 45 days before arrival. We're doing 2 trips in less than 2 months, we'd have to finish paying the 2nd trip a week after coming back from the 1st. Not gonna happen.

Two, with a room-only booking I can cancel/modify without penalty until 6 days before arrival. Not with a package, again, 45 days.

Three,I don't need a ticket. Even if we pay $10 more per night, we're staying 6 nights so it ends up to be pretty much the same thing anyway (ticket costing $75).

And mostly, they don't have the room type we want for our dates. We'd have to go fom standard at AKL to Savannah!

I'm happy with what we got with my AP :)

I would have been happy to book with the Disney Visa or general code rather than AP, but nothing has been available for our travel dates in any code. :(

Glad some DISers have been able to enjoy some discounts!:flower3:

I can swear that if it keeps up like this I will not renew my passes. I have a 6 and 3 year old, the 6 year old is ecstatic about the Harry Potter stuff coming to Universal. And Universal has really gone out of it's way to make some kid friendly things at their parks. And I can get their annual passes cheaper than Disney's and get an years annual pass free when I buy the first year. Disney doesn't seem to realize how many people they are making angry, kind of like that whole Best Rate Program they came out with a few years ago. If they keep doing stuff like this people are going to stop going.

Just a warning... That buy one get one free AP will expire prior to the opening of HP.

IMHO the day HP opens, the deals STOP at Universal. They are not giving you deals becasue they love you more then Disney LOL!

Just called to check to see if the new general code would be better for us and the WDW computer system is down again. She said to call back in 2 hours. Anyone else have this happen recently today?

For me, the AP rate is better. But there we are only staying 4 nights.

AP Rate, Room Only, 4 nights = $558.00
GP Rate, Room + two 1-day base tickets = $590.94

But that's like getting admission for $16 a day if you were to use them without upgrading. That's pretty good if you think about it!

AP rate is better for me as well.

Room only with ap rate(pop, 9 nights)
$597.33

pakage using general public code
$776.56 includes 4 -1 day base tix(3A, 1C)

Not if you have APs already! That $32 odd dollars will pay for lunch!

The only way it works in your advatage is if you have to purchase new aps and will roll the base ticket into your ap.

It's good if you need tickets. If you don't, then you're paying for something you don't want or need.

or it would give you two $75.62 tickets to apply toward your next AP.

or if you are traveling solo and therefore only have to buy one $75.00 ticket. Then your total is still less than the AP rate, plus you will have the ticket worth $75.00 to use toward a new AP next year. That's what I'm going to do.

Another Question...for Those That Have Booked With The Ap Rate And Also Got The Free Dining Cards. Did Your Free Card Show Up On Your Email Ressie Confirmation? Mine Did Not And I Was Curious As To How Will We Prove That We Were Given That? I Trust DiSney But It Would Be Nice To Have It In Writing!
