AP better than MYW?

I read on here about a week or so ago that getting an AP versus the MYW package when booking a reservation is more cost efficient (meaning: booking just the rooms and buying an AP for our park tickets). We will be going for 14 days. Has anyone done this before? It seems we would be overdoing it if we did actually buy an AP (since we live in PA). Any suggestions? TIA!

At some point the AP is always more economical. The threshold for when to by an AP used to be around 7 or 8 days. I am pretty sure that with a 14 day stay, the AP will always be a better deal. Also, you may be able to get the AP discount on your room.

If you want to go to the parks for more than 10 days on your trip you will have to buy eitehr an AP or 2 different MYW tickets. The maximum number of days available on a MYW ticket is 10 days. If you are planing on hitting other central Florida attractions and will not be needing more than 10 days at a Disney park then the 10 day ticket would be your best bet.

1 MYW (10&up) 10 days + park hopper ticket
$242.00 + 4 days MYW park hopper ticket $233.00+ tax$30.88=$505.88.
1 annual pass $415.00 + tax $26.98=$441.98 (Annual Pass is $63.90 cheaper)

I would guess that especially with free Parking and AP Room Discount the AP would be more economical...

We just changed our reservations! So now we'll be staying for 14 days, 13 nights but with no MYW package. Soon we'll be buying APs and then the train tickets. BUT, we ended up saving about $1,000 because of the APs!! And I can make a return trip to WDW whenever I want (wishful thinking, but hey, it could happen :wizard: ). Thanks to all who replied!! :)

Well you never know when you have an AP in your wallet all of a sudden a 4 day quick trip seems all the more doable. If this is a summer vacation you may be able to go this summer and then plan on going 2 weeks earlier next summer to get 2 long trips out of one AP.

We buy APs for a 14 day stay and then plan another trip for 14 days just before the APs expire (in the next calendar year when our vacation has accrued again). This way we save major money on the room and get 28 days at Disney on 1 annual pass. This last time my DH and I also snuck down for a week all by ourselves in addition to the 28 days with the kids.

Question: Does the AP discount on the rooms apply per nite? It says on mousesavers that its $133 off deluxes, is that per nite or off the whole stay?

do you have to have the Annual Pass for everyone in the family or just one of us to get the discount for rooms?? we are doing 5 park hopper days with 6 of us and want to stay at WL but wondring now if AP is good idea for us?/

Can my dad then use my AP if he visits WDW later int he year before my AP expires??

In order to get the Ap discount on your room/rooms, you just need the ap discount for one of you.
