I hope I can make sense with my question. We are going twice within a 12 month period, so we are probably going to get AP's. Now, If I reserve a room and pay in advance for our November trip, when I get to WDW and purchase my AP's, will I get a refund for the room discount? I don't want to get passes in advance, because the year begins from the date of purchase, if I remember correctly. Any suggestions?

You have to reserve the AP rate in advance (not always available), you can't get a refund when you check-in.

If you buy over the phone or online, the year will not start until you pickup the actual ticket at WDW.

Purchase your AP Voucher from the Disney Store. Then you call in and get the AP room rate. We did this last year because we didn't have access to the passholder site. At check in we showed our voucher, that evening we had to show our AP after we had used it.

If you buy the APs after you check into the room you can't get the AP rate and you won't get a refund. They generally ask to see your pass when you check in. I think it's likely if you don't have an AP or an AP voucher they will charge you rack rate.

Reserve the room with the AP discount. When you reserve it they do not ask for it or your number or anything. They will tell you you need to show it at check in.

Paying for your room in advance is fine. You will pay the AP room rate (assuming there was one available).

When you get to Disney either buy your AP then and check in or in most cases you can precheck in and tell them you will be back by to show your AP.

Incorrect in my experience. They normally give you a day or two to purchase/upgrade your AP.

OP- if you see an AP rate you want, call DRC and reserve it. They don't ask for your pass # via phone.

I've also never been asked to show my pass at check-in, but if you are just tell them you havent purchased it. They normally allow you to come back later that day or early the next to show it.

Annual passes start counting when you activate them at the gate. You can buy them months earlier if you so desire....but, there is no need.

Reserve the AP rooms with the rate, and you have up until 24 hours after arrival to purchase and/or activate your pass and to show it to them

Never been asked for my AP. Ever. Don't know if they have it all linked up or what.

I don't think they could have a link up. I got an AP rate a couple of years ago, checked in without issue and without anyone asking for the AP, went and upgraded my UT tickets to the AP. There was nothing to "link up" since I hadn't even bought my tickets through Disney.

I was not asked for my AP at the resort at all.

If you are concerned, by the vouchers ahead of time, and then activate them when you get there. If you make the reservation over the phone, and have the correct code, they don't actually check to see if you have a valid AP at that time.

You can make your reservation with AP rate as soon as AP rates become available for your dates. You may not get first choice of resort, but I've always been able to get something. I book ASAP when rates are released.

We have rental car and normally go to downtown Disney for lunch before going to hotel. I go to guest services and get/renew my pass. Then I have it when we go check in. I've never been asked to show my pass!

Is there somewhere with the AP room discount dates We are going May 2012 and I would like to call as soon as possible.

I go to WDW several times a year (at least four times). In all my trips I have only been asked to show my AP three times at check in. Each of those times was after I had allowed my AP to expire after the last trip and was going to wait until the current trip to get a new one. I've been asked to show the AP at WL, POP, and CBR. CBR was just this past Oct. I think most of the time they have it in the system. The time I had to show it at WL, I was doing a split stay WL/AKL. I assumed having to show the AP was a new thing, so after the WL experience when I was checking into the AKL a few days later, I just handed the CM the AP with my ID. He told me the AP was already in the system and he didn't need to see it.:confused3 Then again most trips where I've checked in knowing I needed to buy a new AP the CMs have never asked to see it.:confused3 It may just depend on the CM.

AP discounts are currently just covering dates through Dec 2011. It will be several months yet before discounts for May 2012 come out. When they do come out, they will be posted early that same morning both here on the DIS and also on Mousesavers.com. You have to have an AP# or voucher# in order to get into the AP website. If you post your dates and resort preference here on the DIS, most AP holders are more than happy to check for you or you could call CRO and have them check.
