AP and parking question

On the first day, with my annual pass that has yet to be activated, I assume I just show the voucher to the parking lot CM's and I will not be charged.

Or is there another procedure involved?

:earsboy:

I've heard others report differently, but when we activated ours at Christmas time we had to pay to park. We were told to take our parking stub along with our vouchers to the redemption location. When we were actually given our annual passes, we would be refunded what we paid for parking.

It went off without a hitch.

FWIW, at Christmas when we showed our APs for free parking, the attendants hardly looked at them. (A less than 1 second glance and then they waved us through.) On trips since then, I've noticed them taking more time to read the AP to make sure it is valid.

Last year at the AK, the parking attendent allowed us in with a voucher. Guess it just depends on which person you get at the booth.

The official policy is that the free parking for AP's is only good for active passes, not for vouchers. That means that the CM is actually supposed to charge you for parking if you only have a voucher. But, like many things Disney, application of the policy will vary from CM to CM.

Your best bet is to plan on paying the $8 and taking the parking receipt with you to Guest Relations when you activate the pass. GR will refund your $8. If you get a CM that waves you through without charging you, great. If not, you won't be shocked or disappointed.
