AP and DVC resorts and Extra Magic Hours

I assume with my AP and staying with my points at OKW, I do qualify for the extra magic hours, correct?

Yes, when staying on points you get a room key that looks identical to the ones used at every other resort. (One slight difference is that it'll say "DVC Member" on it under your name.) You're AP will get you into the park, and your room key will get you the EMH entitlement.

Just staying at OKW will get you access to EMH. That's a perk for resort guests. And if you are staying at a WDW resort (DVC or not), you are eligible.

We have NEVER had to show our room key to gain access to EMH, and our park tickets are always seperate because we buy them with our military discount and they can't transfer that type to your room key. I always assumed that it was because we arrived using Disney Transportation ... any thoughts? and what about EMH in the evening?Granted, we haven'tdone this in a few years due to the ages of our kids ( 4, 2 and 4 months currently)

in the morning you don't - they close it off to non-wdw transportation. in the evening you definitely need your key plus one for every member of your group with their names on it.

all wdw resorts (dvc or not) get the EMH. DVC are WDW resorts.

I think they may have changed it. Now you have to get a wrist band and you have to show the room key to get the wrist band. (This is for evening only)

DH and I were staying at SSR in May, we got wristbands for the Extra magic hours for one evening at Animal Kingdom.

I have been to WDW 5 times in the past year. For all 5 trips, for EVERY EMH I had to show my room key in order to receive my wristband.

I don't know if it was just an expierment, because I haven't heard anything about it on here, but at one EMH at Epcot last year, they actually scanned my room key with a handheld scanner when I got my wrist band.

I recall that, too. I'm guessing they do that to make sure one room key does not get used more than once.

Every morning EMH I have been to over the years have asked for a resort ID. I have seen CM's let whole families through when seeing one resort ID. Most CM's ask for an ID from each person.

As a family we have always had to show a room key to get a morning EMH. A cast member asks for a room key and then says "how many in your family" and we all walk through. A few years ago I figured it was because my children were younger and couldn't be responsible for holding their own room key. But the last time we went my oldest was 14 and she was not asked for a room key.

Okay, so we are AP holders staying at All Stars on a package with one day MYW tickets purchased for everyone to qualify for free dining. We planned to save the MYW tickets and use them towards our next APs. If we go to EMHs, will our MYW tickets be activated, or do they just need to see the room key and put our APs thru the turnstile?

My thought was to have the MYW tickets not on the room key so they don't accidentally get activated. Anyone else been in this situation? Thanks!

I was going to suggest this same thing to you. Ask them to put your tickets on paper ticket media instead of the room key. That way, there's no way it will be accidentally activated.

Yes, what does Edna say in The Incredibles? "Luck favors the prepared?" The fewer chances for goof-ups, the better. It was much easier to swallow buying the 5 MYW tix to get the free dining when I realized I could apply them to new APs later on. Don't want to mess that up. Thanks!
