Is it possible to be an Annual Pass holder and book a vacation with the dining package? Thanks for the info! ;)

Yep. If you book a MYW package with dining though you can't use an AP discount for rooms. Also you will need to buy at least a one day park ticket. Normally, for me it is cheaper to get an AP room discount and pay out of pocket for my food. I did get a MYW package during free dining however.

If you do get a MYW package, save your park ticket and you can use it to pay for part of a future AP ticket. That is what I am going to do with my one day ticket.

Also, you might want to look into the Disney Dining Experience Card, you get 20% off food and booze at most sit down restaurants at WDW. You can only get it if you are AP holder or a Florida resident.

In order to get the dining plan you have to purchase a package....that is a room and at least a one day ticket for everyone in the room. I've read that many who have an AP go ahead and purchase a one day ticket for everyone but when they check in they ask that those tickets be issued as vouchers, not put on their room key. Then you save the vouchers until it's time to renew your APs, then the value of the voucher is applied toward your renewal cost.

That's great to know, thanks so much!!

Starting in 2008 there is an 18% gratuity added to all DDE purchases. Kinda negates the discount but takes care of the tip, lol.

From what I understand the AP alone gets you a 10% discount with you being able to choose the amount of the tip. Since the DDE costs $65 it might work out to a better deal...the break even point of the DDE is AFTER you have spent $300 on food. If you're going for a short trip, that might not be worth the DDE cost.

Yes you get 10% with just the AP, but it is at limited restaurants during limited hours (largely lunch). Yes, the DDE only takes off 20%, wich is something. but not all that much. When I used mine, it was always with a larger group so often the gratuity was already included on our checks anyhow.

With an extended family it kind of simplified things. The minus 20%, plus 18% tip and tax virtually cancel each other out- With our larger group, that means figuring each person's share was easy. Everyone paid in pretty close to the price on the menu - but rounded up to the next dollar or so at most ADR meals.
