AP Activated for me?

I bought my AP before leaving the Christmas party (around midnight) a couple months ago on my last trip, and flew home the next day, never using the AP. It was my intention to activate it on my next trip which is in April. I just logged into MDE and noticed its been activated for me. My question, is this normal? I thought it should not activate until I used it to enter the park. If so, am I screwed now out of 4 months of time, or is there someone I can call to have it fixed?

Did you purchase the AP by itself, or did you upgrade a ticket to an AP. If you upgraded, the activation would be the first day you used the original ticket. If you just purchased a full price AP I would call Disney and see if they can sort it out.

Nope didn't upgrade, just outright bought a Platinum Pass (with a DVC discount). Whats the best number to call? DVC member services and let them transfer me?

This is from @Robo's Ticket Sticky:
Virtually all APs purchased, in-person, at any WDW park ticket window or Guest Relations (including at DS) are activated and are "live" APs.
However, a guest CAN purchase an AP "voucher" at a WDW booth if the guest specifically asks to do so.
All APs purchased by phone, by mail or on-line are "vouchers" and, therefore, NOT activated.
An AP voucher is by nature NOT activated, and will remain fresh and ready to activate up through the end of the year 2030.
However, the purchase price of the unused AP voucher is not "lost" upon expiration.
The "expired" unused voucher can be turned in and its original purchase price can be applied to the purchase of a current AP voucher, live AP or other WDW ticket.

Call DVC Member Services and explain you meant to purchase an AP Voucher. They can direct to the correct area.

Just called, they say the only people who can help me are guest services and it's impossible to contact them via phone, has to be face to face. Bummer. Guess I have to wait to sort this out.

Call WDW Ticketing at
(407) 566-4985 (option 5)

Although, there is really no down-side to just waiting until you return.
You'd have to make a trip to a Guest Relations to activate the AP, anyway.

I thought it should not activate until I used it to enter the park.
To further clarify for those following along...

Unlike a regular ticket, "going into a park" does not activate an unused AP voucher/certificate.

A new AP must be purchased and/or activated by a trip to a Guest Relations or ticket booth before that AP can even be used at a park entrance.
That trip to get the AP activated will also require a legal photo ID for all guests 18 years and older...
and (if its a FL Resident and/or DVC AP) proof of Florida residency and/or a DVC ID.

When I purchased the gold pass, it showed up in my MDE right away. It didn't show the expiration date until after I activated it at Guest Relations. Do you see an expiration date?

This worked! Thank you! I explained what happened and the CM said she couldn't turn it off so she just extended my AP until April 2018 (1 year after I intend to use it) for me. Thanks for your advice!
