AoA and AsMo Split stay or no?

Since my future traveling party definitely doesn’t want to be in a value resort with cartoon theming, I decided to do a split stay between Little Mermaid AoA and All Star Movies. September AP rates weren’t as great as I’d hoped - I could save $200 by switching to Music for my whole trip.

I like Music and am comfortable there - had a wonderful solo trip there last December. I’m conflicted for this trip because Little Mermaid is my favorite and I’d like to see the hotel - never set foot at AoA. And Landscaoe of Flavors sounds like a nice way to start the day since it opens earlier than the All Star food courts.

Thoughts? I realize I could visit AoA and Movies at a later date - I’ll want to ride the skyliner when it’s finished anyway.

Well, both AoA and ASMo are value resorts with cartoon theming...so not sure your travel party will be happy with either if that's not what they want.

How long are you staying for? If it's less than a week I think split stays are sort of a hassle but there are some pros that may outweigh the cons, like money savings, location etc. AoA is the nicer of the values as is POP, those are the best of the bunch IMO. Do keep in mind the LM rooms at AofA are the furthest walk to the buses and main building with the big blue pool. It's not unbearable but it's a factor for sure. $200 is a considerable savings however I would find other some other budget items on my trip to cut to stay somewhere I know I would be happier. Another factor is how much are you at the resort? If you are a sun up to sun down at the parks traveler, then where you stay is not as critical IMO.

I probably wasn't clear. I meant that the people I'm traveling with on future trips would never want to stay at AoA or AsMo. So that's why I was tempted to stay there in September, since I would be traveling solo.

I'm not even staying for a full week. 5 nights. And I do tend to be in the parks from open to close. I could curtail some of the nicer table service restaurants for this trip, but I'd rather not do that. I'm leaning toward switching back to Music and putting the $200 to other expenses of the trip. Since mostly what I want to see is the food court and the outer decor of the AoA, I may plan to just visit some afternoon after the skyliner is completed. It makes me a tiny bit sad to switch, but perhaps it would make the most sense, and I had a great time at Music last solo trip.

Sorry! I misunderstood. Based on your latest post above, I would probably switch to Movies and save the money. It will be easy enough to check out the AoA decor without staying there. 5 nights, IMO, is not worth the hassle of a split stay. Have fun!

No worries! And I did go ahead and switch. Preferred room at Movies with an AP rate was very reasonable. I might just make a trip to AoA one evening after park close to take some photos. :)

In truth, staying at AoA isn't that much different than your stay at Music and for what you want to see, you can do that without staying at the hotel, the accommodations of both hotels are fairly similar. For 5 nights I'd stick with one place to keep it simple.
