These are not textbooks, just @100 combination of hardback and paperback books, I read @Bookscouter but of the first 20 I scanned, only 2 had any prices at all come up. Our local book.record will buy some if they want them in their inventory but it's for store credit. Anyone have any other suggestions of how to sell these and just make a little cash in the mean time? I am not looking to make a ton but more than just donating them....TIA

I've done it two ways, we have a used book store here in town and I take them there. They will buy them for about .05 or .10 each. I also sell them on Amazon. You have to set up a vendor account but Amazon will reimburse you a set amount for shipping, I just get an Amazon credit for them. I've never made a lot, sometimes only a $1 but it gets them out of my house. Most of the time I just donate them to our local library.

Half. com buys back books.... but be warned you get pennies for most of them. I have a stack of new condition hardcover current fiction and when I checked I could get about .25 each for them. Probably not worth the effort and the drive to the post office...................P

This won't make you any money, but if you read a lot, you can join paperbackswap.com . You can list your books there. When someone orders one of your books, you mail it to them. You pay the postage. You will get a credit, which you can then use to order another book for yourself. For people who read a lot, you can recycle your books and get new books for the price of pastage to mail an old one. It saves you in the long run if you buy a lot of books, but it won't earn you any money.

they only have a few locations but i have sold to http://www.bookoffusa.com/?cmd=store

i have a pile of college textbooks no one will take as they become outdated in two semesters. i might donate them to a local used book shop, but even then i have seen them put things like that out on the curb as free because they can't sell them. someone told me to try craigslist as some crafters may use them, but i think old used books are easy to find free.

I donate them to charity. Sadly, books are rarely worth much on the resale market. I even have some old (like late 1800's and early 1900's) copies of classics and even those wouldn't bring much.

I "sell" mine to the local used bookstore for credit. I have given so many books that I have an insane amount of built up points so I just tell them to spread the points around. I will use the credits to get books that my niece (she's the librarian)needs for her school library that has a very limited inventory and no budget. In the past I have been able to find some stores that really bought the higher quality books but that was years ago and in another city. I've also taken them to halfprice books but like someone said, you don't get very much.

I've never done this before, so I can't promise you'll get much for your books... but is there a half price books store near you? I see people go in there all of the time with boxes of books to sell. Or like others said, you could donate them!

I just ended up donating mine except for the ones I had autographed by the authors - I miss the days of going to the local bookstore, buying their newest book and meeting authors.

The autographed ones I sold on ebay recently except for the few I'm keeping.

I had a lot of great books in mint condition covering a range of topics but could not even give them away. Yard sale, used bookstores, and library was in vain. Finally found a charity that would take them.

I have sold books on half.com but as someone else mentioned, you don't get a lot. It seems everyone has (and is selling) the most popular titles, and the payout is low.

I got rid of several hundred books last year (trying to be a minimalist, but it's not working too well). I ended up:
1. donating to charity
2. donating the children's Bible story books to Sunday School
3. posting photos on my FB page and offering to my friends. At least then I know they are truly wanted and read.

I've had pretty good luck at Half Price Books, if you have one near you. For a small box, I usually get between $7 and $15. Usually more than I think I would have gotten if I sold them at a rummage sale. They're usually older books too, not real new ones.

I have taken boxes of books, many in like new condition, to used bookstores and have gotten pennies for them. Some may offer you an in store credit instead. I donate them to our local library and then they sell them or add them to their circulation.
