Is there anywhere for a toddler to play while adults ride tower of terror and RNR coaster? Trying to think of how to entertain him. Maybe we should just hang out in the store where its AC?

No play area but they just started the lightning McQueen racing academy show that would appeal to young kids and there is a dance party/DJ in front of the building the show is in.

There is a new Lightning McQueen show by RnR, and outside of that is an outdoor area where they have a dance party and it looks like even if it's not dance party time (there's a daily schedule), Cruz Ramirez is there.

ETA: Posted at the same time as others. Great minds think alike!

Nope park is kinda lacking for the littles. As mentioned above the animation courtyard with the dance party and meet and greets is the best thing going for the tiny set.

There should also be some really good photopass spots along that "street" with TOT in the background. Good for "proof that we took you" pics while you wait, if you are so inclined.

The play area is gone.
Agree with taking in the show, going into shops.
If you are lucky, some street characters may be out to watch as well.

My group was in Star Tours. I had bought my niece a Mickey bubble wand (best $20 ever!) and ended up taking my niece to a quiet shady curb and she played joyously with the bubbles until our family rejoined us.

Near ToT and RnR is the new Cars Academy courtyard. Super cute and has music, photopass spots, and the LMRA show
Near Toy Story Land is the Incredibles/Pixar courtyard
Near Star Tours the muppets courtyard is generally not crowded and has a fountain and a good place for a toddler to roam
Near Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Launch Bay is the Disney Jr. courtyard with character meets and bathrooms and a gift shop and the Disney Jr Dance Party

Hope that helps!

Ditto on the muppet courtyard and the mermaid/launch bay area. We also like the covered veranda at the exit from the ToT gift shop. There is a bench on each end (used to be anyway) and a low wall to keep the kiddos in. I spent a lot of time with the kids there while the others rode ToT. Can be a nice breeze coming out of the gift shop, and bathrooms there also. Little bit of space near Indiana Jones.

I would do the Racing Academy or meet characters. If you don't mind a bit of a walk, Muppet Vision would be a good option. Or you could just walk around Toy Story land and look at all the details.
There used to be a cool play area based on Honey I Shrunk the Kids. We used to stop in there for a break when the kids were younger. They loved playing and we loved the break.
