This is out first time there. Not owners (but hopefully this trip will convince the hubby). ANything we shouldn't miss while there?

We are a unique bunch with two 85 year old DGGP, three 60ish DGP and of course me and DH and two DKiddies at 5 & 7! This trip is mostly about the younger and older generation but any ideas of "not to miss" would be appreciated.

Thanks!

ALSO anyone know if they have a pac-man game in BWV or BCV game rooms? Thanks my DS would be forever greatful to try and beat his daddy on the "old" game.

Never stayed there, just BCV, but they are close. I like the Bakery at the Boardwalk. I'm up early and I'd walk there and pick up goodies for my family. It's a nice walk. Just strolling along the Boardwalk at night is a treat. If you're strolling about one evening, the bridge between BWV and BCV is a nice spot to watch Illuminations from a distance. The location is great since the boats will take you right to Epcot and MGM.

You may check out Beach Club while you're there. Nice buffet at Cape Mae's, and good character breakfast as well. Get PS for these. Beaches n Cream is a fun, old fashioned diner. Small and no PS allowed, so you may have to wait to get in.

If you get the chance, try out DisneyQuest in Downtown Disney. You'll need a MYW pass with a Plus option, Premium Annual Pass or single day ticket. But they have several dozen of the classic arcade games. Barring any maintenance issues, you'll find everything from Pac Man to Donkey Kong to Centipede.

Once you pay for admission to DQ, there is no charge for the indiviudal arcade games.

Don't miss Community Hall. If the kids like video games, they have free ones for them to use. They also have ping pong, air hockey and other fun things.

My 12 year old DS tells me there is a Mrs. Pacman game in the BWV video arcade. But he just thinks so and isn't 100% sure. But he says it's more fun in Community Hall anyway.

As far as Disneyquest goes I dont think the grandparents will enjoy as much as you and your children.my son said there is a pac-man game at the bwv arcade room.if your not at any of the parks at nite the boardwalk has some live entertainment along the boardwalk. They usually have a magician, comedy group and a woman that does rope tricks. You can stroll along have a nice cup of coffe,do a little shopping or just sit and relax.maybe even walk over to epcot for nitely firework show.

As other posters have mentioned, community hall is fun and the street performers are fun to watch on the boardwalk at night.

Yes, definitely don't miss the street performers, especially the jugglers.

Perhaps this goes without saying, but don't miss the pool and slide. Get there in the morning, and your kids will have the run of the place. I personally would not miss the king bed and hot tub in the master bedroom. And I absolutely love getting up early, making coffee, and then sitting on the balcony to drink it. I really enjoy seeing all those joggers sweating while I am kicking back and relaxing! I think DVC is all about the hotel stay :wizard:

As my children would say.....we love the coconut smoothies. Man, they hit the spot on a hot day by the pool! We are actually staying at VWL on our next trip and my dd asked if they had them there.

Make sure not to miss the convenience of BWV. For example, in the morning take the boat to MGM (even better if it opens early) and spend a few hours. Grandparents and kids will then need to rest, take the boat back. Nap, swim, or just relax. Dad can get a beer at ESPN Club. Later in the day, go to Epcot. Have dinner there. Watch the fireworks and then walk back to BWV. Grandparents can stay with the kids while Mom and Dad go to JellyRolls. (or Mom and Dad can stay with the kids and Grandparents can go to JellyRolls) :smooth:
This full day of fun is without any busses, cars and no more than 10 minutes from your room.

I LOVE getting up early, throwing on shorts and a tee shirt and going for a walk around the lake and then down to MGM and back!! It is a refreshing way to start the day and DH and I do that as much as possible when there. On the way back to our room we stop for coffee at the bakery..........and muffins of course!!!!!

It is so quite and peaceful early in the morning!!!

For excitment...............the boardwalk entertainment and just plain old people watching!!!!

I've been looking at the map of BW and wonder how far is the walk to the MGM boat dock?

The boat dock is just outside the back door of the resort off the lobby. The walk to the dock will depend on room location.

If you're in the furthest rooms from the lobby, you might as well just plan to walk straight to MGM. From that location, the walk to the boat dock isn't a whole lot shorter than just leaving the building via the nearest stairwell and heading over to MGM on foot.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy BWV as much as my family and I do. I wouldn't want to own points anywhere else. You are within walking distance of more than half the restaurants in all of WDW. At BWV itself, the pizza window at Spoodles is great, and we pick-up food most every morning from the Boardwalk Bakery unless we're going for the character breakfast at Cape May over at the Beach Club. It's just a short morning walk. Beaches and Cream also at Beach Club has the best burgers in all of WDW.

Our kids love the Luna Park Pool and waterslide and the short walk or boat rides to MGM and Epcot. The nightime on the Boardwalk is great fun. Some seem to be bothered a bit by the noise but it has never been a problem for us. We don't like to stay anyplace else in the world except for an occasional trip to the Grand Floridian for a few nights but then it's back to BW.

Hope you enjoy it!
