Where do you get his uniform? DS is moving on to wolf and it's time to shell out another $45 for stuff he'll wear maybe 45 minutes a week. Is there a swap board for cub scout uniforms? There must be...I can't be the first person to think of this?!?!?!? Can someone please tell me how to get to it?
You would be my hero! :love2:

should be one though your pack,,,You wear the blue uniform for 2 years but the tan all the way until they out grow it in Boy scouts...

if you would of asked this question a week ago, I would of mailed you my son's old scout uniform. I had 1 blue one and 2 tan ones.. Sorry, we got his shirts at a local Boy Scout Store.

try looking on the web or at a freecycle site, maybe someone is giving them away.. :confused3

Try Ebay. And buy a size larger than he needs. With him being a Wolf he'll still need the blue uniform for cub scouts.

Yep, ebay. I agree about getting a little bigger size. I think they run a little small and you want him to be able to wear it for a while.

I have lucked out and found stuff at local consignment sales, even with my son's own pack number already on it!

Good luck.

We always went to thrift stores and Goodwill! They had a ton of boy/cub scout uniforms. Also, one of the major retailers used to sell them, but I can't remember which one...maybe Penney's?

I have three boys, so our uniforms have gotten plenty of wear. My 11-year-old's Boy Scout shirt is looking a bit thin, but I won't buy a new one unless he stays in longer than his brothers and literally can't wear this one any more. I have seen some on Ebay and the first pack we were in had a uniform closet where you could trade/donate/get uniforms. Remember he will wear the blue uniform through Bears and CAN wear it the two years in Webeloes. Here are a few suggestions:

Don't buy more than is required. Some packs wear the entire uniform, but others only do shirts and hats. Make sure yours is actually doing pants, belt, socks, etc., before you buy them.

Ditto for equipment. When he needs a cooking kit, canteen, etc., check the Walmart camping section before you hit the Boy Scout store.

Buy as big as he can possibly wear now. Buy a short-sleeved shirt only -- use long-sleeved under it when it's cold.

My son just started Tiger Cub Scouts and fortunately my sister gave me my nephews uniform and I just had to buy the patches for the shirt, badge magic and socks (which was still $25.00!). I checked out my local thrift store, they had nothing. I checked on ebay and they had a lot, but the prices weren't that great IMO. After shipping, a lot of the complete uniforms were almost the same as the new price. I think the Tiger Cubs only wear their uniform for one year so I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it!

Ask the Scout Master. We usually have a table set up at the troop meeting for you to put your uniform on if it doesn't fit anymore. What size is your son. Maybe I can get you something. By the way if your troop is active they will wear their uniforms alot more then 45 mins a week. They wear it on all their trips, an overnight once a month, everynight at dinner at summer camp, parades and whenever they do community service. My DD's never worn their Girl Scout uniforms just the vests so al least your get some wear out of it.

DH and I started a "swap" thing in our troop--we hold a bunch of spare shirts and pass them out to people who need them. Our school district is small and there can be money issues--we don't want cost to hold people back from scouting!

Whenever I'm in the thrift stores, I look for shirts. I've come up with a few, they go in the swap bin as a donation. I also came up with a Junior vest that I donated to our GS troop. Unfortunately, you dont' know when these items will show up in a thrift store, that's why I just keep my eyes open generally.

Our pack just wears the shirts, hats, belts, and neckerchiefs. Some people spring for the whole uniform, but I just throw DS into naby blue Old Navy pants or shorts--they hold up well, and I don't mind buying them in his size. The cost of scout gear can get nuts!
