I haven't even gone out to see it yet. i don't know if it's new used how much he paid!!! I think he lost his mind.

:rotfl2:
Well maybe the shock for him hasn't worn off.
Congratulations!

Maybe I haven't had enough coffee, but I don't understand this.--Edit: OK, now I understand. Congratulations on twins!

Anyway, my dad did the SAME thing to my mom about 15 years ago and she is still mad! He traded in his truck and bought a brand new one without talking to her about it at all. She was so furious and still brings it up from time to time. She needs to let it go, IMO. The truck is paid off and he still has it all these years later...maybe he is afraid to buy another vehicle :rotfl:

If your DH agrees with you and regrets the decision, in some states there is a law that lets you change your mind about the purchase if you act within a couple of days.

And yes, my DH has done stupid things financially and so have I :rotfl:
But, I understand why you are upset.

Woah!!! I think I would have to kill my husband if he did that!! I think he would be too afraid of what would happen to him if he did. Hope it all works out for you and congrats on the twins!!

PS- Hope you dont have to take on a job just to pay for the gas for a gigantic SUV!!

Maybe he freaked out about the twins. Men comfort themselves by buying big things that cost a lot of money. If you don't think you can swing the payments, insist he take it back. There are a lot of nice minivans that seat 7 easily. They are much better on gas.

Congratulations on the twins!! How exciting! That's so funny about the SUV. Maybe you'll end up wondering how you ever made do without it! I know I'd be a menace on the road with one of those things! My minivan is about as big as I can handle!

Congrats!
If that was my DH and he bought a SUV without talking to me, those would be the last babies he'd be making!

THIS is funny! :rotfl2: DF not only bought a new set of ginormous drivers this year, but he bought a country club membership (but honey, he says, we can play golf here for the rest of our lives!!!) as well... so I'm thinking you're right about this... :rotfl:

Although DH has access to all accounts, I generally as a rule don't remind him where money is or how to get to it. ;)

The worse mistake he can now make is $300 worth because that's the daily limit on his ATM card.

He's made a few. One was car related. All YEARS ago.

This is why both of our names are on all of our cars. ;)

Are you my Aunt? She had three kids and wanted four. Well she got an extra one in the deal.

Contrats!

Congrats on the twins!!!

Probably 15 years ago a truck pulling a trailer with a brand new John Deere mower pulled into our driveway. This was when I found out DH had purchased a new mower. At the time, my car payment was $211 a month. The lawnmower payment? $206! I asked DH if he planned on driving his mower to work. :lmao: Then 3 years later we moved into town, didn't need the ginormous mower, so he sold it for practically nothing. Yes, I can laugh about that now...but back then I was FUMING!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on twins! That's wonderful, and I think it's even better that they are the youngest.

I would kill my husband if he did that and I agree with the last babies he'd ever be attempting to make!

The cost of gas alone in a SUV would make me insane - I just gave up my minivan this weekend because of gas. 20 years of minivans, I'm ready for 35 miles to the gallon, BUT two of my kids are almost 16 and 20 now so I don't need anything that big. Why not a mini-van? It'd be so much easier for getting the babies buckled in carseats on either side. I'd hate to even hoist up an infant carseat into an SUV.

Sorry - I'd make him take it back. When my husband gets car fever, I just nod to everything he says, but not if it's something I drive, then he gets little or no say other than looking up reviews and specs.

What did you have before and what does he drive?

Not NEARLY as expensive as your deal - but last year a college kid came to the door selling books. Of course the kids were home & DH was trying to be a good daddy & got sucked into the schpiel (sp??) of the sales guy. I get home & the kids are all telling me about the book guy. Now I love books, but it's something we have a TON of. I always let them pick books from the Scholastic book orders every month in school, and love to give books as gifts. I look at the receipt for the books. $475!!!!! For BOOKS!!! I alsmost flipped my lid. Actually I think I did. I called the company to cancel & then called the bank to stop payment on the check (I wasn't getting the feeling from the company that they wouldn't really try to cash the check). I'm a very frugal person, so to pay the $36 to cancel the check almost killed me, but I was SO FLIPPING MAD about it, I was happy to pay that rather than $475 for books! Why couldn't he have just bought one or two books - not the whole set for $475!!!! What was he thinking??? I got flamed bigtime by a friend that used to sell those books door-to-door in college. She said I was taking money out of the hands of this poor college kid, and the hands of God (it was part of some religious sales group) blah blah blah...I don't care if God himself comes to my door selling books - I'm not spending $475 on them!

Congrats on the new babies & the new truck!

I thought I'd tell you my stupid husband story to cheer you up..

I just had my last baby and within hours of the birth, I developed a rare autoimmune disease. It escalated so fast that we didn't know if I was going to make it. The day I came home from the hospital, my husband bought a car AND got a $3500 cash loan from my parents for it. I was on 60 mg of prednisone and a paranoid wreck and what does my husband do? He goes to get gas, leaves the keys in the car to go inside to pay and the car is stolen. We had fought over and over about his leaving the keys in the car before - he used to leave it running with the kids in the backseat to go grab something quick - TG he didn't have any of the kids with him.

So, I'm very sick and hopped up on drugs and then it dawns on me that all of our personal information (names/address) is on the insurance papers in the car and of course our house keys so I insisted that all the locks be changed right then and there, another $500. The baby's new stroller and car seat was in the car too. Of course he didn't add theft insurance to the car either.

My parents somehow only could think about the $3500 and no car, so I had to cash out my deferred comp from work to pay them back right away. I seriously thought about using the rest of the money for a divorce lol

We got our car back 5 weeks later - it was burried in a snow bank in a Target parking lot (they think it was dumped there the same day it was stolen - it snowed that night and the plow pushed snow over and around it). The police called at 4 am and told us, but said it had to be towed, so that cost another $500 to get it back, THEN a week later my husband gets a ticket in the mail for $250 for leaving the keys in the car. Whoever stole it took the stroller and car seat and left us empty quart size bottles of beer, dirty diapers, and used the seats for ashtrays. Oh and they took the owner manuals and all paperwork in the glove box, but left the keys laying on the seat.

It's now nearly 7 years later and my son in college has the car - I still hate to look at it.

My husband bought a water filtration system and not a brita or pur I mean a mac daddy system. So now I try to keep him away from telemarketers or salespeople in general. He is a sweet guy but a little bit of a sucker.
