Just needing to vent. My DH is a computer engineer, and absolute NUT about all things computer-related. He also grew up playing video games, and for the past 10 years (almost our whole relationship) has been ADDICTED (and I mean somebody slap me, 12-step program, "Hello, My Name Is..." addicted to online video games. The past couple years its been World of Warcraft... You know, your typical sorcerers, evil elves, trolls etc...

Makes me crazy! But, I knew what I was getting in to when I married him, and he is a wonderful provider & father. Just wish he spent a little less time on W.O.W. (ok, a lot less time) and more time w/ me. Talking about WDW. Hanging on the DIS boards... Feeding MY addiction!! :rolleyes1

Did I mention he recently started taking Friday nights off? Sooo generous of him!!!

I'm the video game player here; well me and DS are. It's a good thing that my PC is too slow to handle the online stuff.

Hahaha...me too...I love WoW...and before that SWG....

DH made me cancel my account.

He works at a video game company and our house is overflowing with game stuff.

The funny thing is is that I'm way more addicted than him!!

I am starting to think I have the only husband who is NOT into computers, those video games and such.He has an AOL account, looks like he has 150 pieces of mail. The only email he receives is from Sears and Snap On. His emails :confused3 they start self deleting because he never checks them. About once a year he asks me his password, because he doesnt remember it, and then he delets all of his email :confused3

My sister is a marriage counselor and she has told me that a good part of her practise, that most of the couples have problems that are internet related.

My boyfriend is addicted to computer games. He plays them all the time. He was talking to me earlier about all of these games coming out this year great I'll never see him! Although that's not true he never ignores me and sometimes I even hang out in the room with him when he plays them. I think it's good to have hobbies. Computer games just happen to be his. He's not hurting anyone by playing them (although he screams at the computer alot) and I'm happy that he has something he enjoys.

I don't know if my wife wants more time with me, but she surely hates when I play WoW.

LOL.... Friday night is the BEST night to play WoW.... it is a sacrifice! :lmao:

I'm impressed....you can DIS and WOW.....I can't maintain both at the same time, lol.

It is all about balance...:teeth:
My DH does NOT play video games but me and the girls do. We have WOW but have not yet "hooked it up" yet.
All of us have our own computers too.:rotfl2:

We have traded it in for TV programming as far as I am concerned.....
I can't stand what they have on the TV for shows these days. All that reality stuff...bleech.
Right now I watch 3 shows on tv, "Supernatural", "SouthPark", & "The Dog Whisperer".
But I DVR it and watch it when I decide!!!:lmao:

I love games, electronics...frankly it is paradise.:thumbsup2

I'm the game player in our house. EQII, level 70 defiler, one of five women in our guild of over 100. DH and I have our computers in the same room so he does his thing, usually work-related, and I do mine...although he does spend a lot of time watching the gameplay. If he had the time he'd be playing too.

Both husband and DS13 are heavy into Playstation2 games. Has always been - one game system or another. Luckily I get the computer.

Oh no... I don't play WoW! Just DH. If I played WoW our kids would be orphans!! And I don't even DIS much either... An hour or two a week total only when I am planning a trip. :sad2:
I'm in school full-time, and btw that, the boys, and the house... no free time!

DH however, is another story! He runs a WoW guild, which means in addition to the 35 or so hours he spends each week playing, he also spends an additional 5-10 hrs maintaining the website, posting on boards, dealing w/ membership issues... Like having a 2nd job, only for free! Actually, since he pays monthly fees and also for his chat server, we actually lose money!

Like I said, he has 1 year, and then WoW is G-O-N-E!!

DH has always been into computer games and right now he is into WOW. The computer room is the most active room in the house. We both have our own computers and we spend a lot of time in there together. He also is a DISer so all his time isn't spent playing games. I can think of a lot of worse hobbies for him to have.

I'm an "Evercrack" widow. Fortunately DH has cut back quite a bit and only plays for an hour or two a day

I am a WOW widow as well. Dh will play non stop if I let him. Sometimes I'll hear "let me finish this quest and I'll stop" or "only 2 more bars until I level and then I'll get off". :rotfl: It's so funny.

I have no problem with DH having a hobby, and yes, there are WAY worse things he could be in to, but am I wrong to think that over 40 hours a week, his "fun time" has progressed waaay beyond hobby status?? I have to schedule our life around his computer game. Heaven forbid I plan ANYTHING for Sat nights-- the all-important raid night!! He comes home from work, says hi to me & the kids, and sits down & plays until midnight. On weekends it's until 2 am or so. The server he plays on is a west coast server (he runs a guild w/ his brother, who is lives near Seattle) so most people he plays with are able to stay up later. It definitely affects family life.

He fully admits to having a problem, and he knows how I feel (I think) but I am a "conflict-avoider" through & through-- it's hard for me to nag at him to get off...

Anyway, I guess I just need to grow a backbone & lay down some ground rules about hours etc...

DH loves his video games. Kids love coming to our house because we have all the gaming systems (everything from the old Ninetendo to the XBox 360). DD and DS both enjoy playing the games with him, and I can hold my own on some of them as well. We're overflowing with video games, and he's a member of Gamefly, so there's always something new coming into our house. Thankfully, though, he does know when to turn the games off. It's a great stress reliever for him after a hard day at work....and, yes, he's an engineer. :teeth:

LOL! The phrase "I'm almost finished with this quest" has been banned from our house! Along with "it was an accident" and "I'll take out the trash later." All are completely worthless statements at this point!!!!

You can always have Tuesday mornings.... The WoW servers are down for maintainence! Tuesday mornings stink!.... :teeth:

Tuesday mornings- blah! Thanks for throwing us wives a bone WoW!

;)

Oh I know! I always here about it when I get home on Tuesday. And if they're really late getting the server back up, boy is there major complaining going on!!
