I joined Weight Watchers Online- I have done WW in the past and really like the program, but I always fall off the wagon, so to speak. But this time I am determined to lose weight before DH and I try to concieve our first child!!!

So, my SIL and I are going to Curves tonight. I think it sounds like a fun way to work out, and I'd be more likely to go with a partner, but I want to hear other people's opinions!! SO- if you go or have gone- what did you think?

I went for a free trial in December. I just wasn't willing to sign the one year contract. I hate to admit it, but I most likely would not have stay commited that long, and the payments continue anyway.
I do have a friend in another town, that joined a year or so ago, stayed with it and lost lots of inches and pounds. She's very happy about that. (She went three mornings a week).

LOVE IT!!! :thumbsup2

I started last month and it's so easy to motivate yourself to do something when it's only 30 minutes and each exercise lasts 30 seconds at a time. I work up quite a sweat and my clothes are fitting me so much better after only a month! I highly recommend it!

I went for a few months but had to pay for the full year. I really enjoyed it. The problem I had was that the one I was going to was open really crazy hours and as life changed it wasn't very accomodating. I wish I could still go but it just doesn't fit in right now.

Try it out. It really is fun and you get inspiration from the others there. Just be sure you consider everything before you sign a contract.

Argh. The contract part is what is bothering me. BUT- I'm thinking, maybe it will actually motivate me to go. I mean, if I have to pay for a year, might as well use it, right? And the one close to me actually has decent hours- I know some of them don't have very accomodating hours.

I've been a member for 2 years this April. I don't have a huge amount of weight to lose, but definately needed the toning up. I think it worked great for that, I just can't seem to drop the pounds. That being said, I only have been able to make it 2x/week and they recommend at least 3. My nearest Curves is in a town 15 minutes away, and although it may not seem like much, after a long work day it is, not to mention their hours are not as long as some other health clubs. I think mine is open for an early bird shift, closed like from 1-2pm and open again until 7:30pm. Saturday's they are only open from 8-10am and closed all day Sunday.

It was my understanding when I signed up that I could pay monthly, but the cost was $10 more a month that if you go direct deposit. If you signed the year contract and went DD and cancelled 6 months into it you would owe Curves $60 (the $10 extra for every month you committed), so you wouldn't necessarily be out the monthly fee for the whole year.

I love the workout and the fact you move from machine to machine, making the 30 minutes fly by, but I'm actually contimplating quitting because of my time constraits. I'm trying to hold out in hopes I get my but back in gear and the rest of my life slows down.

In MN, if you have BCBS you can get a $20 credit/month if you work out at least 8 times/month, so Curves really only costs me $10.89 a month if I can get there 8 times. I'm not sure if this is available in other states or not.

If you go before March 11, take a bag of groceries with you-I took soups, cereal, crackers and peanut butter, etc. You will save the $149 Sign up fee!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I joined Curves last December and LOVE it!! I have lost over 45 lbs and 51 inches in the past 14 months. I HATE to exercise, but LOVE to go to Curves! My Curves is very much like a family. We all care about each other and worry when someone is missing for a bit.

Sometimes I actually go around the circuit too many times because I am so busy talking with my friends!

Give it a try, you may find that you like it too!

I really like it, but I had to quit. I had foot problems in the past. All the jogging and bouncing caused the problem to act up again.

I am a member of Curves and go 3-5 times a week. I really like it! I like the fact that it is only 30 minutes and since it is in a circuit you don't have to think too much - you change machines when the little voice tells you to! :)

I have found that you get out of it what you put in to it. I give it my all and come out sweaty and feeling like I got a work-out. I socialize a bit but not a lot. Some of the ladies spend more time talking and less time working out, and that is fine if it's ok for them, but they may wonder why it is not working for them.

Hope you like it! :)

Yep!! That's the plan for today- and then it's $29/month. I am going to go.. Have an appt. at 4:30 today. I'm glad most people like it so far!

Curves made a huge difference for me... not pounds, but inches and tone. I found that even 2-3 workouts a week made a huge difference. After a few months I added Weight Watchers and the pounds came off quickly. I agree with others who've said that busy schedules make it tough to stick with it, but I found the results are rewarding and definitely noticeable! With the music and cameraderie, workout time can just fly by! ;)

I love it and hate it all at the same time. I love the results, but hate the circuit. It's just sort of boring after going so many years. I find it's definitely better when there are a few talkative ladies in the room, but sometimes it just seems to drag on even when it is only 1/2 hour.

I continue to go though because I actually have a wee bit of muscles now!!

:thumbsup2

My DW went for a year and lost 20 pds and 10% body fat and 4 pants sizes. She is back to the same size she was when she was 18 ( :thumbsup2 ). It was the best 30 bucks a month I ever spent to have a hot momma. She is now doing yoga and toning exercises at home, but would recommend curves to anyone.

PS: She hates to exercise but loved curves due to the low impact and the ability to gab while she worked out.

I am so upset. I really wanted to join curves this year and I was going to join in March with the bag of groceries thing.
My problem is that my back started really hurting again 20 years after my back surgery and I don't know why. I had an MRI yesterday, but won't find out anything until probably Monday.
I am sure starting curves would not be the best thing for my back right now.

This was the year I was going to lose the rest of my weight and tone up.
