I am looking for info on benefits and discounts, working enviroment, flexible scheduling etc.

My sister does, part-time. She gets a 10% discount. At Christmas, she works the maximum amount a part-timer can work, 30 hours I think. I think she works every other Saturday or Sunday.

My neighbor is a pharmacist for Walmart. I dont kow much about benefits except the 10% discount. I also know he has a great schedule...He works 10 hour days...1 week its Tue, Wed, Fri, Sat, then the next week its Wed, Thur, Fri. So 40 hours 1 week and 30 hours the next.

My sister just started working there. They get 10% discount I don't know about benefits yet. They want people who can work anytime and work weekends.

There is a new supercenter about a mile from my house openning in October. I thought I would apply for a day or two a week if the benefits and discount were worth it.

Yup- I've worked at my Mart for over 2 years- All in all its not a bad job- I love that its flexable for school (ie I go full time during summer and part time the rest of the year) Yes you exist in the retail world (ie Saturdays off are rare, as is the month of Dec)

As for perks- You get the 10% card and they have a pretty good stock plan as for the other 401 and other benifits I have no idea- I dont use their insurance (too many pre-existing conditions- Im a medical nightmare....) but I dont hear many complaints with it

Walmart is very Anti Union but their system is usually very good about dealing with issues- All in all its a good company- its huge so it does have its problems but hey I'm still there

I don't but mom did and the only thing I can tell you is due to her pre-existing condition she couldn't take their insurance either. But when she passed away the death benefit was great! Really helped out with funeral expenses, etc. She hadn't even been there a year and we didn't think we'd get anything but we did.

I worked there for 3 years and enjoyed it. They are usually very flexable with schedules and the 10% discount adds up. There are many departements to work in so there is room for advancement. I started in jewelry, then went to Accounting and when I left I worked in Personnel. I'd give it a try, you can always quite if you don't like it.

I have worked in the same store for almost 15 years now! I started out part time in the pharmacy & then went full time & was the pharmacy dept manager. I'm now in softlines & I'm the menswear dept manager. It's a good company to work for for benefits.

After my divorce, I needed to get a job with insurance & benefits & I'm glad I choose Wal-Mart!

They give us 10% off purchases, a 401-k plan, a profit sharing plan, stock purchase options, and a shareholders bonus!!!
They have many options for health & dental insurances too.
This year I had 3 weeks paid vacation & starting next year I will get 4 weeks paid vacation!

As for scheduling, I've never had any problems. When I started there, my children were young & had visitation with their father & my manager was very good about working around my scheduling needs.

Give them a try & good luck!
