Anyone with HH wait list experience?

We are 5 different wait lists for a 2-BR, 5-night stay at HH with a different Sunday check-in date for each wait list. The time period covering these wait lists starts July 4 and ends August 6. Can anyone with experience with wait lists with this criteria tell me what my chances are of getting an opening? Thanks.

We had hoped to change our 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom last July. Wait listed for several months but no luck.

Hopefully one of yours will come through.

hi there... last april (after having had a blast at hhi in march we started a summers worth of wait lists for a 2 bedroom for any sunday-friday combination in late june through the week following labor day.... well, within a week we were offered the first week in september and jumped at it, but kept our other wait lists going. by may, we were offered the last week in august which we then switched to without a problem as it was preferable to us due to school resuming for the kids. we were so grateful and excited and had the most marvelous time. we were lucky enough to catch blue crabbe, christopher (the resort naturalist), chef gordon, and even shannon tanner still singing at shelter cove during the week we were there and it was an incredible week. we went down 2 days early to take the ghost and history trolley tours in savannah and to eat at mrs. wilkes boarding house and the lady and sons too for the best southern style cooking (yum!). we loved the romanticism of savannah and were thrilled also to be eventually headed "home" to hhi. good luck, its SO worth it. (by the way, ive always had great luck with disney wait lists... the only one ever to let me down was vero beach.. never did come through) ok... sending pixie dust your way!

I attempted to make reservations last week for a 1 or 2 bedroom in August. At the time, they did not have any availability and put me on the waitlist. Two days later, they called to tell me that a 2 bedroom was available.

I only have enough points there for a 2 br for 4 nights during our August trip, so i always have to call at 7 mos. for that last night and also for my parents studio (using my okw points). I had no problem getting anything at 7 mos. THIS year, but last year, the studio was a last minute (june) decision for august so i waitlisted for the whole 5 nights for a studio and they trickled in a few at a time til i finally had all 5 nights open up. When i called (january) at the 7 mos. mark, he said the studios were extremely limited at that time for that time (august).

We are also waitlisted for the last three weeks in July Sun-Thur @ HH in a 2BR. We currently have confirmed ressies for August 15-20, but would much prefer July, due to another scheduled family trip to Deep Creek Lake September 8-12.

This is the first time I've tried the waitlist.

just reading some posts new to dvc since july. bcv!! so now my question. how far in advance did you make this ressie for hhi because you can't make rhem before 11 months os that correct?

We put ourselves on the wait lists last week.

I called yesterday and got our first choice (one bedroom for 9 nights checking in on August 26) with no problem. Granted, that's late in the month, but I was still surprised given how "hard" I've heard it is to get a res at HH in July or August.

that IS good, considering you got a 1 br. Had you wanted that same 1 br in july or any earlier in august, i can guarantee you'd be on the waitlist! Probably by end of august, kids are going back to school and availability eased up a bit. I've been lucky, before owning there, i got a 2 br in june, july and august at 7 mos.

I agree - somewhat. Read on:

Yesterday, I did ask about whether anything was available earlier in August (specifically, check in on the 8th for 9 nights). I expected the answer to be 'no," but was surprised to be told that both studios and two bedrooms were available for all those nights (in fact, if I'd been willing to switch rooms during the visit, I could have gotten a one bedroom for six of those nine nights).

Bottom line: I've heard availabilty during high season changes by the hour (e.g., people are continually cancelling and changing ressies), and now I believe it. I was probably just fortunate enough to call at the right time.

As it is, we actually preferred the later August date (our favorite time to vist WDW, in fact), because of the August school openings you mentioned (which by the way are not a national thing, the August openings skew heavily South and West; North and East still tend start after Labor Day). It's amazing how much less crowded things are once all those sunbelt families disappear.

I am so annoyed with myself! I purposely bought HH to have that 11 month window. This year we had other plans, until last week when my sister thought it would be great to vacation together....at HH!!! So here we sit on the waitlist for a grand villa, OR 2bedroom / studio OR 2 bedroom /1 bedroom!!!! Gave several weeks in late July or early August. For all I know, I can be #2010 on the waitlist! I'll wait until May before taking my name off and making other arrangements. Good luck to all on the list!
