Anyone With Disney Themed Christmas Trees?

Our tree is all Disney. DIL's collected the Grolier ornaments for us and gave them too us as a 1st anniversary gift. We have others we have bought over the years as well. We have a Disney tree skirt and Tink topper. We did have a Mickey topper before. We also have a Disney train under the tree. We have quite a few other Disney decorations...a Main Street set, several snow globes and various other items.

We have been looking for some Disney tinsel to go around the tree, but have never found any. I also want some Disney Christmas "cheese/dip spreaders". I don't know if that is actually what they are called, but the are the little knives that you put out w/ cheese spread and crackers, etc. Has anyone ever seen these or the tinsel?

I have a tree that's all animated/cartoon characters. Not just Disney, but Warner Bros., Hanna Barbera, Peanuts, Marvel Comics, etc. Most of the ornaments are Disney, though. I have Mickey & friends lights, and Pooh lights. My tree topper is Mickey holding a lantern that lights up. He moves left to right as if he's searching for something. I bought it on clearance at Disneyland!

I have been able to find Disney decorations at Kohl's, Sears, Target and Kmart in the past. And, of course, Hallmark stores. I would try those places. Be sure to go back after Christmas and take advantage of the clearance sales!

I finally did a Disney tree last year after years of doing a snowman tree. I lucked out and found a tree-topper at a consignment shop near me that was originally from the Disney store - Pooh coming out of a package. I have in the past tied with ribbon a stuffed animal (a teddy bear when I had a bear tree) to the tree top, which is something that might work for you.

I didn't have a whole lot of Disney ornaments, but I did have a ton of the 100 year McDonald's toys. I went to the hardware store and bought a couple of packages of screw style eyelets and voila, I had a bunch of cute ornaments. I also used multi-colored lights and found at the dollar store, a really cute garland of "sugared" candies to use. I never did find a reasonable tree skirt, so I just used a plain red one.

Ooh, good idea! I did this, too. I bought one of the Incredibles playsets from the Disney Store for $10. I made them into ornaments. They look just like the Storybook Ornaments Disney sells for $32. :sunny:

my mom has a disney christmas tree, 7 & 1/2 feet with tons of disney ornaments that she has collected through the years. its so cute & fun.

Thanks for sharing everyone :goodvibes I would love to see pics once people start getting set up for the holidays! I have seen that tink topper on e-bay that has the fiber optic wings that is too neat.

Tuffcookie- what great ideas you have with the styrofoam balls and picture ornaments :)

DISNEYFANRI/It's A Happy Day/cardaway/welovedisneyx4 - Can you tell me about the Grolier ornaments. I have seen them on E-bay and they seem expensive are they collectibles? Where does one buy these?

No, I don't have a Disney tree, but my tree is themed after Universal Studios. I have all ornaments that I have bought from there. Our stockings are from there too. I am looking for a good tree skirt this year to complete my collection.

Last year I decided to count the ornaments before we packed them away. there were 280, while I didn't count how many were Disney I would bet that at least 225 of them are. I can't wait to unwrap them all next month. It's such a special time.

I have one I think but it will have to be scanned (and found). My parents haven't done 2 trees in a few years since it's the 2 of them most of the time, so there's one tree with a little bit of everything on it. I *think* I have the last year we did it in a picture somewhere.

The Grolier ornaments are collectables, I believe. We have gotten all of ours as gifts, they were ordered, but I am not sure where from.

I just was at Sam's Club and they have a Disney Princess set w/ 3 houses, Cinderella, Fairy Godmother, Belle and the Beast, Snow White and the Dwarfs and several other things. It was 44.00. Very nice set! I told DMother that is what I wanted for Christmas!

is this creative enough ???

I made one of those Mickey head wreaths last year too. Of course, even though I was only a lurker, I got the idea from this board! LOL

We normally have 2 or 3 trees set up and in our "disney room" we always have a "disney only" decorated tree...

DH has a Donald Duck ornament only tree for his office. He has a 6ft tree and it is full. It is like a treasure hunt to find these for him.

MICKEY88 That is so awesome I love the wreath and slide!!!

The official way to get them is by joining the Grolier's ornament of the month club. I still see flyers for it in some bill mailings and Sunday newspaper circulars.

I would suggest just buying the ones you like off ebay. Grolier charged quite a bit for the ornament and shipping, so very few ebay auctions end at totals higher than ordering from Grolier. There are a selct few that are hard to come by, but not many.

For those that have collections - I recently discovered that Europe has a different selection than the US. Look on ebay for auctions in Europe and you may just find ones you didn't even know existed.

And does anybody still on the mailing list know if they are still coming out with new ornaments? Haven't seen any new releases on ebay.

cardaway,
What are the ornaments made out of? Are they plastic, procelin, etc.

You could say our tree is Disney themed mostly.

I make a ton of our ornaments out of "happy meal" sized toys by adding ribbons. Got some realy nice ones to add from the last McDs promotion.

I love yard saling and this is what the girls help me look for when we go. I get most of them that way for 5-25 cents and they look brand new.

We have a Disney themed tree. Mickey riding up and down on a reindeer is at the top. I've collected Disney Radko ornaments for sometime and must have at least 50 of those. The colors on these are so beautiful and glittery. Then we have Disney hallmarks, ornaments we've gotten at WDW and the Disney store. Our tree skirt has Mickey and Minnie on it. I just got 3 new Disney Hallmarks. The Soda Shoppe Sweethearts, Best Night of the Week and 50 Years of Music and Fun. I don't know exactly how many we have but at least 300.
