Hi there! I worked as a merchandise hostess during my program in the fall of 2001. I was scheduled to work at the then Disney-MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios) in the Animation Courtyard. At first, I was a little dissapointed with my role. I had mentioned that I'd be interested in recreation during my interview, but they felt I would do best in merchantainment. I was also, at the time, not very comfortable handling money. But after a few weeks, it was no big deal. I became very comfortable in my new role and I couldn't have asked for a better group of co-workers/friends and managers. And the great part about being in the courtyard was that we typically closed our shops earlier than those on Sunset Blvd. or near the main entrance to the park, so the hours were nice.
I noticed that someone said "normal" hours can be found at DAK. This is not entirely true. One of my roommates worked at DAK in food services and had to be at the park at 5am every morning.
But in general, it is important to keep in mind that CP's don't get to choose their role or their work place at all. They ask what you're interested in, but that doesn't guarantee that you'll get it. Ultimately, they choose where they feel you'd do best. So I wouldn't put a whole lot of thought or effort into that part of it.
The program was a wonderful experience - one I will cherish and remember for my entire life. Enjoy it!
