Just back from a week-long stay at BWV last week. We LOVED it! The staff was friendly and helpful, the location was too cool for words, our room was great, and the weather was (mostly) really nice. BTW, I've decided to stop worrying about planning our winter getaways to Florida based on when we might get the best weather. Our friends were there in Jan. and had 80-degree temps and we were there two months later and were lucky to get above 70. Which is actually great for being in the parks. We were very happy that the pools were warm this time!
Speaking of pools, the four kids (and us parents) loved the clown slide. It didn't occur to any of us to be freaked out by the clown, thank goodness. DH and I even managed to sip a pina colada by the pool while the kids played. I liked that we could keep an eye on everyone pretty easily. The only negative thing was when a group of people parked themselves in the hot tub (spa?) for OVER AN HOUR and wouldn't get out. Eventually, I politely asked how much longer they would be (I was emboldened by the fact that half of my family had colds and we wanted to warm up). They said a few more minutes, but then didn't budge. I guess manners don't automatically come with money.
Was the hallway particularly long? No one in our group minded and, anyway, the more walking, the more opportunities to burn off our daily Mickey Bar Ice Cream (which we had to get to use up our snack credits).
I wasn't sure if my DH would like the bustle of the Boardwalk, but he really enjoyed it. He and our two oldest (9 and 7) all stated that they would like to stay at this hotel again. (Actually, they really want to stay at the Poly, where we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday...Ohana's is a GREAT place to celebrate a birthday, BTW.) The kids loved the performers and the surrey bike ride. DS5 went nuts over the boats. I rather like the Polo Ralph Lauren feel of the Beach Club
, but I would submit to a majority vote.
Jellyrolls was a blast as always, we enjoyed Spoodles (for breakfast and dinner), the Boardwalk Bakery was great. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about the DDP. I signed us up because I thought it would make things easier, sort of like being at an all-inclusive resort. But the truth is that I had to think a lot about who took the plan and who didn't. And my DS9 got tired of the kids' menu pretty quickly. So we'll have to think about it some more for next time.
We would stay at BWV again in a heartbeat. We were so happy with the amenities, the location, the staff, and the overall atmosphere of the Boardwalk. Feel free to ask questions about anything!
