My 4 year old is dying to meet someone else with Celiac...just wanted to know if anyone else is planning a Disney World trip in early Sept.?

When are you going? Probably earlier than us, we will be there Sept 18th - 25th. Have you checked out local support groups? We have a fairly large one near us with many kids and activities.

We are going early Sept. We live in CO. and I have not found a group...

Hummm...sorry, I dont know much about CO. Im from Chicago. I did a search on Celiac support groups and I was able to find a few groups out here. You could also search "allergy mom groups" and see what comes up for your area. I bet your daughter would love to meet some of those kids, and its great bc you can usually trust that your kids will be safe (at lease from thier food allergy's) with the other moms on playdates bc all the moms understand.

Our family is going Sept 17-24. My DD, age 4 has celiac. We are from Wisconsin. PM me if any other celiac kiddos will be around then. I'm interested to see what you are doing for meals. We are doing free dining so she will be eating with us. Our DD has been tube fed and just started eating by mouth so she will need her foods pureed as well. I am sure this will be an interesting food experience!

Hi! I won't be there at that time, but just had to drop a quick post here. I am the poster that posted right before you, and I do find it ironic that my name is Stephanie Lynn also. Lol. Spelled a little different, but still kinda funny. Have a great time on your trip!

We were at Disney last month with our 9 year old who has Celiac (he also has Down Syndrome and is Autistic) and everything went amazingly well. We ate breakfast at Donald's Safari Breakfast in Animal Kingdom and had lunch at Sci-Fi Dine-In in the Movie Studios and all we had to do was mention his CD when we checked-in and the chef was at our table with-in minutes to go over the menu with us. We were also able to get a GF pizza at Pizza Planet. At counter service restraurants just ask before you order and alot of the places had a notebook with ingredients of what they serve or else someone will come out to talk to you. We also had no problems at the All Star Movies Resort. You may want to call ahead and speak to someone about pureeing food tho (or maybe someone on the board can help you out with that).
Enjoy your trip.
Can you find out about support groups through your child's dr.? Our son's dr. is at Children's Hospital in Philly and they do have a support group that has special gatherings throughout the year ... we just haven't made it to any yet.
