I have been doing alot of searching for a hotel/resort at myrtle beach for July 1 thru July 6 this summer. I have been reading alot of reviews about several different ones, but i am getting alot of mixed reviews. We are looking for oceanfront, near attractions, but prefer something that will be relaxing and quiet somewhat. From what i have found so far we are going to have to pay $200-$300 a night. Anyone recently visit myrtle beach that can give me a few ideas.

Also anyone ever stayed at Sea Crest Oceanfront? It looks nice & all reviews are good, but i'm thinking its gonna be really busy.

I don't have any advice about resorts, but considering that you're going during the week of 4th of July you need to book quickly. It will be INSANE. My husband and I own a house in NMB and refuse to go down there during that week.

We were just there in April and stayed at the Paradise Resort. It was really nice, the week we were there they were replacing all the mattresses. We had a one bedroom, oceanfront. It was a great location.

The only thing it didn't have was a safe in the room. I would stay there again.

We love the Breakers, Paradise Tower on Ocean Blvd and 21st N. It has a great lazy river and pools, and is ocean front. It's walking distance to several restaurants and little beach shops, and close driving distance to Broadway at the Beach (which is on 21st) One of the downfalls is that the parking garage is across the street, but that is true of many of the ocean front hotels.

We usually stay at the Dunes Village resort. It has 2 indoor water parks & a lazy river. They also have outdoor pools and planned kid activities daily. Beachfront, rest & bar.

just remember that anywhere you stay will have good and bad reviews..totally depends on the person's personal opinions.
we stayed at Long Bay Resort the first MB trip we took. it was nice, nothing fancy. lots of hallways that just had a "wierd" feeling to me, kinda old. nice kids area and pools...STARBUCKS in the lobby!!!! only issue we had was DD got stung by a jellyfish (can't blame the hotel for that one... :scared1:) and once when we came back from the pool the housekeeper was sitting on our bed talking on her cell phone drinking one of our pepsi's we had in the fridge .
second trip was to Sea Mist, heard great reviews from friends and family that stayed there and we hated it!! parking is in a garage across the street, and we are a family of 4 so we had a lot of luggage and "stuff" to carry.. water park was across street too, as was restaurant, bar... just tooo spread out for my taste.
this year we are staying at Crown Reef, saw lots of mixed reviews on line but it looks nice, lots of pools..
we go mostly to relax on the beach, kids to the pool and shop at the outlets and broadway at the beach and boardwalk. dd is looking forward to the new zip line, ds wants to swim, dh is easy (he just wants to eat seafood!!) and i just want to take pics and have fun!!!

We are going the week before you, June 26-July 2, and staying at the Sea Crest. The Sea Crest was recommended to me by a few people and I read good reviews about it. It appears that most of the rooms have been renovated recently. I think the pool area looks great; I'm pretty sure there are eight pools in all with a lazy river and great kid play area. I'm planning on it being full, but no busier than any other hotel. I've never been to MB, but from all the research I've done, it seems that a lot of the hotels there are very large and spread out. I know when I booked our hotel stay I asked to be in the main building; we have an angle, oceanview suite. I also asked to be on a higher floor; I think the room category I booked is on the 5th floor or higher. Friends have told me that there is an outdoor bar with karoake (sp?) most nights, but that if you are on a higher floor the noise level isn't bad. I think the location of this hotel is also pretty central. When I booked I was told you can walk to the boardwalk (not that it is much) from here and that Broadway on the Beach is about a 10 min. drive. There are also several restaurants within walking distance. I'd book soon. We booked in Feb. and just yesterday I priced out our same room category for the same dates and it is $400+ more. Have fun!

If you are looking for something a little nicer, the Marriott MB Grande Dunes is very, very nice. It's definitely more quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle of the grand strand. Especially over the 4th of July week! Yet it's still a short drive to all the attractions.
We love to go out and do all the fun things in Myrtle Beach and then come back to the nice relaxing feel of the resort. The price with a AAA discout is probably at the top of your price range of $300, but it's an option well worth looking at.

The food is pricey and limited, we either go out or bring our own in.

Best wishes in finding something that is a good fit for you~

we always stay at the Dayton House. It's older but DS loves the pools, there is a large grassy area between the pool and the beach with chairs and tables that are free to use, and the security people really help to keep it quiet and family oriented.

We always stay at Ocean Creek Resort. It's right on the Myrtle Beach/ North Myrtle border, right across the street from Barefoot Landing. It's much quieter up there but still very east to get to Broadway or any other attraction.

I did figure it would be real busy during that time, but we have been to Disney during Christmas and it to was crazy busy. I was hoping to get it booked before june 1st hope is that early enough? My husband is a coal miner and i also work for a coal mines (above ground for me though) and we have a set vacation time during the summer. So thats the only time we can go.
