Anyone vacation in Costa Rica?

We are looking at the Marriott Los Suenos resort going for a week in early May. The resort looks great and I have been wanting to go to Costa Rica for awhile.

So my questions are:

- Have you been to Costa Rica?

- Have you been to the Los Suenos resort?

- Is Costa Rica a good vacation spot for kids (ages 9 and 4)?

The Marriott has a nice all-inclusive deal that is pretty reasonable. So I am turning to the collective experience of the DIS for any input.

Never been, but heard nothing but basically good things about it. Had a friend that went every year and loved it so much it was his plan to retire there, but I think he ended up going somewhere else.

I'm from there and my brother and I have stayed at Los Suenos before. We enjoyed it, it's a really nice resort, beautiful grounds, the beach is ok, pretty calm (there are better ones in CR), the surrounding town (Jaco) can be fun but it has a reputation of a "party town".

Have you considered other areas of CR? Guanacaste is beautiful - Playa Conchal is also really nice. http://www.paradisus-playa-conchal.com/ There is a small airport near by (LIR)- I know Continental has a direct flight from Houston once or twice a day.

Costa Rica is beautiful and has so much to do - I'm sure you will have a great time.
