Anyone Using Differin?

OK-- I am trying to decide if I should pay the outrageously high copay for this stuff. I have been using the samples and I do like my skins but I am finding it to be VERY dry.

SO: Do we like it, DIS ladies?

AND-- if NOT what OTC solution did you find that was as good or close enough?

AND-- if you LOVE it, what is your skin care regime otherwise?

FINALLY-- does it work with gradual self tanners?

My DD and DS have had differin in their skin care regimen in the past and they found it to be too drying as well. DD had to load up with moisturizer, so it was a mixed success. If you use self-tanner, it may be splotchy in the areas you've used differin; I'd even out your color with a non-pore-clogging liquid foundation (Revlon makes an Active Wear brand). DS outgrew his treatments but DD just got an RX for retin-A from the dermatologist last week. So far so good with that.:cool1:

DD loves it, but as another poster said it does tend to dry her skin and she uses more moisturizer. It does seem to do the trick though as far as clearing up her skin.

I've never tried that but last weekend I started using some of the Aveeno skin care products. I can't remember off the top of my head the names of the two I'm using, but one is a bar and the other is the moisturizer. My skin feels SO much better and looks clearer already. I was using some other moisturizers but they always left dry spots on my face. This one doesn't and it doesn't irritate my skin in any way.

The Clear Complexion Cleansing Bar is what I use first. http://www.aveeno.com/detailAction.do?id=3622

Then I moisturize with the Positively Smooth Facial Moisturizer since I need a little extra help with skin tone and all.

I've never found a product I like this much. I've had acne problems since before my teens and I'm in my 30's now. So it is wonderful to start seeing my face clear up now!!! Can you tell I'm a little excited?

How about proactive? Thats supposed to do wonders.

I used it during my teen years and I found it drying but not as bad as retin-A so I stuck with it for a while.

If you only need something for spot treatment try this stuff:

Its $24 a tube but lasts months and months. I have been using my tube for over a year and its still good. Anyway I use it for spot treatment. Usually my zits are gone within a few days. You can't use it every where and everyday though as it is pretty drying as well. You can get this at sephora.com

I have been using Differin for about three years and I love it! Sometimes it can be drying, though. The only bad thing is you must wear SPF when you go out in the sun or you will get burnt!

Has anyone noticed that the Differin bleached out towels? I think this is what my daughter-in-law was using and now my medium blue towels have pink splotches on them.

I guess I'll have to buy a set of all-white towels just for them to use when they visit.

I used it in middle school and liked it-I found it less drying than Retin A, which I was prescribed in high school, and I didn't have the bleaching issues I had with Duac.
I have both a strong genetic tendency toward acne, and PCOS, so I don't know if that effected it.
