Anyone used TripCentral.ca before?

With no limit on the amount of Air Miles Dream Travel Certificates a person can use, I was thinking of using these to pay for our stay at Universal Studios. Either Royal Pacific or Cabana Bay - unsure which yet.

However, I'm re-doing my spreadsheet to factor in APH rates (when available) to compare and I just realized TripCentral is charging much more than if I booked direct with Universal Studios. Is this the norm?

For example a 2 queen standard room (water view) at Tripcentral is showing $291.57/nightly for a total of $2,296.11.
On US it's listed at $229.56/nightly for a total of $1,807.81.
That's almost $500 difference.

Maybe Tripcentral doesn't book with the SMSM rate available? If not, I wonder if Tripcentral would book Royal Pacific with the APH rate when it comes out? Or is that available through Universal Studio's website only?

Do you live in one of the provinces listed as being able to use Tripcentral? Nova Scotia & New Brunswick in person and Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Northwest Territories by phone are the only ones mentioned on the Airmiles site.

Next have you taken into account that the prices on Tripcentral are in CDN funds?

Last thought here .. are you even able to book just a hotel using the AM travel certificates? I thought it was only good for packages & cruises. (not being much help am i??)

What?! No... Why the heck would not all of Canada be able to use Tripcentral? The other companies mentioned can book RPR and CBR - but seriously? No hotels? How the heck did I miss this? Argh! Thank you for pointing this out before I started ordering my travel certificates. I almost have enough for $300.

So is there any way of redeeming Air Miles for hotels at all? Hopefully, specifically, RPR or CBR?

Nope. Didn't even enter my mind. Oh my gosh. I feel so stupid. I can't believe I forgot I was dealing with two different rates! :rotfl2:

So I'm asking Air Miles Chat specifically how do I use my air miles to book RPR or CBR at Universal Studios Orlando and the reply I get is "Disney, very nice". lol

I don't think I can use air miles to book any Loew's. It doesn't show up on their website. When I ask in chat, she tells me my booking date may be too far out to show. I'm saying it should not matter when I'm booking. I want to know if those two hotels are even on a list of hotels that I can book with my air miles. If not, I need to know so I can change my plans!
