Anyone used to go on PGL holidays? (or still do?)

From the age of 14 to 17 I went on PGL holidays - a week or two with lots of other kids and without my parents - yay!

I used to have great fun at these Places but I never hear anyone talk about them these days.

My first was an American Sports week at Harper Adams in Herefordshire in 1988, then it was:

Tregoyd, Wales - 1989
Tregoyd, Wales - 1990
Ardeche Valley / Club Mimosa, France - 1991

I remember getting the brochures but I was never allowed to go They were always a bit far away from here

Yes i did in 1994, went to Tregoyd in Wales.

PGL actually own alot of the outward bound centres now, although there not all called PGL. They still have the Tregoyd place because i was looking at a leaflet the other day as Girl Brigade were booking residentials.

I went to one in Wales too probably in the late 80's my sister and I won the holiday with Kingsmill bread

I went to one at tregoyd and one somewhere else but I forgot where it was.. And what year, I've got some photos somewhere haha!

My daughters' Primary School have a PGL trip every year for Year 6. They go to Hastings for 5 days.

I loved the holidays at Tregoyd - someone would always get thrown in the river and then people would get told off!

I'll have to scan my photos if I can find them, though my choice of 'fashion' may leave me open to ridicule!

Afraid i dont have any pictures as i managed to ruin the film whilst there, but i do remember us all being yelled at because we werent meant to have junk food in the room, so people were throwing their rubbish out the window onto a roof below....tut tut

I remember having to give our deodorant to the teachers because we weren't allowed to use it as the fire alarms were super sensitive.. So we stank, probably of pond water and mud...

We had dorms with bunk beds - though we used to take the mattresses off the top ones and put them on the floor.

Yeah, dorms all the way!

We were on the top floor in red bunk beds with about 12 people in a room. The school made a video whilst there, ill have to dig it out.

Via Facebook I just got back in touch with someone that I met on my PGL holiday at Tregoyd in 1990!

Facebook is truly awesome for that - I'm back in contact with so many people from all parts of my life - even someone I was at primary school with and haven't seen for 22 years!
