Anyone used Disney transport to/from TL lately?

We were planning on making our first-ever waterpark visit in a few weeks. However, I am concerned about the current disclaimer regarding TL buses:

As of 6/10/14: Bus service to and from the water park after 2:00pm will only be available at Epcot. Guests traveling to Typhoon Lagoon after 2:00 will need to get to Epcot, then get on the Typhoon Lagoon bus. When leaving the water park, you will be dropped off at Epcot, then you can take other transportation from there. This is all due to the transportation changes at Downtown Disney.

I know it's almost a year old, but I haven't been able to find any information regarding whether it is still in effect. Certainly they can't still be rerouting guests this way?!

We'll be staying at SSR. It is my understanding that if we take the bus from SSR to TL in the morning it won't be a problem. But when we want to leave TL at the end of the day, we have to go all the way to Epcot and then wait for a bus back to SSR? Seems ridiculous to me, and I'm praying someone here tells me I'm wrong. Pretty sure we'll opt out of TL if this is the case.

Do they have cabs at TL? :-)

According to this post (which was just made yesterday), this is still the case:

We went to Typhoon Lagoon this past Tuesday and the quoted policy is still in effect. We got a bus directly to TL in the morning, but coming back we had to go to Epcot and transfer to a POR bus.

So, after 2pm, there is no bus service back to your resort? Am I understanding this correctly?

There is bus service, just not nonstop bus service. You have to take a bus to Epcot first, then you can catch a bus to your resort.

Bummer. Not liking that. I think there's a bus back and forth between waterparks too, right? Does Blizzard Beach have direct bus service back to the resort?

There is a currently a test of direct service between the water parks. The test is scheduled to run for a month. The buses will run every 30 minutes between noon and 1 hour after water park close.

But going from TL to BB to get to SSR certainly will not be faster than going to Epcot. One, the buses to Epcot run more frequently. Secondly, the ride from Epcot to SSR is about 10 minutes; from BB, SSR is 15-20 minutes, and highly dependent on traffic on BVD. Thirdly, buses leaving BB originate at AK, and if a bus fills up at AK, that may be a missing bus for BB.

It's probably a good idea that Typhoon Lagoon not be on the Downtown Disney bus stop list during the afternoon.

Too many times a thunderstorm results in a mass exodus down the single lane out of TL and DtD buses for all of the resorts are caught in the traffic mess.

For the future, a TL to Planet Hollywood shuttle might be a good idea if the bus stop at the latter location (fka the Pleasure Island stop) is reopened.

Still better would be constructing a double lane up into TL. During peak times buses would descend from TL contraflow, you could say, "down the up staircase," via one of the TL entrance lanes which would be coned off for that purpose.

How does this effect patrons of the Epcot Resorts. There is no bus service (as I understand it) from the main gate back to BC/YC so if I was dropped off from TL at Epcot main gates how would I get back to my resort? Have to walk through Epcot? That would imply using a park ticket (or having hopper) but what if it was meant to be a water park only day and I didn't want to use up another ticket?

How long was your trip to TL by bus in the morning? From which resort? Trying to guage if faster to go from resort early,or from Epcot later.

There is bus service between Epcot and the Epcot resorts while the TL shuttle is active. The Epcot resorts bus picks up at the load zone right next to where the TL shuttle drops off. There should also be a Transportation cm at the load zones to provide guidance.

If you're travelling before 11am, the bus will go directly to TL; whether it's faster or slower than the shuttle from Epcot will depend upon the distance from your resort and how many stops the bus makes after your resort. There aren't many resorts closer to TL than is Epcot. If you're starting at YC, for example, the bus will stop at BC & BW before heading to TL.

Between 11am (approximately) and 2pm, the bus will go to DTD before TL, so it will take significantly longer than the shuttle from Epcot. I say approximately because the route was assigned when the bus left DTD for the resort, so at some resorts buses leaving as late as 11:30 could go to TL before DTD.

I think the only way we're headed to TL this trip is if we can grab a cab or uber back to the resort. We don't have the time to deal with the Epcot transfer. Nor would we want to, all wet and post-water-parked. Otherwise it's Blizzard Beach for us. Guess we'll see which way the wind blows.

Thanks all for the clarification!
