Anyone use restaurant.com???

We purchased a GC for Baskervilles last Dec. It was good on the character breakfast. We had our choice of the buffet or ordering off the menu. I think the buffet was $12.95 or $13.95 per adult. The characters were Pluto and Goofy. They were GREAT!!!! The food was okay but not great. If I went back, I would order off the menu, rather than the buffet. We were seated quickly and the waitress was nice. The service was okay. They staff made sure that both characters made it to all the tables at least once. They seemed to come out in shifts, when Goofy was out, Pluto was not. When Pluto was out, Goofy was not. It was our first character meal and we loved it. If anyone has specific questions, let me know and I will try to remember the answers. Debby

Ok, I just want you guys to know that thanks to this thread, I am totally addicted to bidding for restaurant g/c's on ebay now! I've won 1 already, and am waiting on several others to end!

Thanks for the info. about the site! ;)

Did anyone here win the eBay one for the Grosvenor?? What did the certificate say?

Maggie

The certificate will say exactly what it says on the computer, when you are bidding! I would feel comfortable ordering the Grosvenor from them! I've already won 3 this week (after just finding out about this a few days ago!! :teeth: ), and have no complaints!

I bid and won a gift certificate for Baskervilles before our trip on the 12th of September. The certificate was for 50% off. We ate there the evening of the 14th. We had the buffet. The food was delicious and we had no problem using the gift certificate. We will probably go back in February and I plan to get another gift certificate to take with us.

My only concern with these printable coupons for the meals is that a lot of places are cracking down on printed coupons because of the fraud factor (saving the coupon as a file or on a site and passing it around for everyone to print...etc). I know that 2 of the major chain grocery stores in my area no longer take any kind of printed coupon, even if you can show them that it has the manufacturers website listed at the bottom of your print out :( So I'd be afraid to get to the restaurant and get turned down and then not be able to get a refund.

There is a reference number on each gc given. The restaurant verifies that it hasn't been used yet by calling an 800 number.

what did you type in the search on ebay? I tried gift certificates, Florida, restaurants, and after scrolling thru lots of pages, did not see Baskervilles.

You're better off going to the Restaurant.com website, then in the bottom right corner it will say "click here for our auctions on EBay", or some such thing. That will take you right to the page.

I just typed in "Baskervilles" and found it. But you do have to sort through a few "Hound of the Baskervilles" books.

Lake Buena Vista. That should give you less listings than Hound of the...

I used Restaurants.com once for a local restaurant, Tony Roma's. You can print it out so no need to wait for it to be mailed. There seems to be some confusion as to how they work so maybe I can clarify. There's two types of certificates. One is $12.50 which enables you to purchase a $25 meal for the price of the certificate--$12.50, so you save 50%. If your meal costs more that $25 you pay the difference. The other type of certificate costs $12.50 also, but you get 50% off your entire order, not just up to $25. When we used our certificate which cost $12.50 our order came to almost $100. So we paid $50, that's 50% off the bill. We only needed one per table, not one per person. These certificates are good for parties up to 8 people. The $12.50 certificate which gets you a $25 meal is not quite as good a deal because you have a limit on how much you can order, and also you need one for each person.

Reading this post it sounds a little confusing but I hope it explains them. You can only use one per restaurant per month, but we use one to eat out once a month for half price. Of course, the restaurant comes out ahead because you order more than you would ordinarily because you're getting 50% off. Still a good deal.

by using these was on a recent trip to TN. We knew we were stopping at Staunton VA for the night and I searched to see if any restaurants in staunton were listed. Sure enough, there was a Pizza Hut 50% off total bill. I won the auction for $1.00!!!!

We feasted on pizza and breadsticks, and even had quite a bit left to take back to the hotel for later on.

I also have one of the $25.00 ones to use at the Club Car this Dec when we go to WDW.

But for anyone who is driving down, and stopping for a night, check to see what is available in the town you plan on stopping in...you may just get a great deal too.

I bid on a Baskerville's 50% off gift certificate in August for our September trip. I won the bid and we ate there on September 14th. After I printed the gift certificate I checked the restaurant's daily menus to determine which evening we wanted to eat there. The meal was $18.99 per person and there was roast turkey, prime rib, baked chicken, meatloaf, dressing, mashed potates, various veggies, salad and the fixings, cheeses, fruits, melons, pizza, a table of delicious desserts, just to name of some of the selections. There were four adults and we all enjoyed the meal very much. We felt it was well worth the amount I paid for the gift certificate (approx. $4.00) for the gift certificate to get 50% off the meal. We all decided we'll do it again next time.

OK, I have another question about this. So if you buy the 50% off coupon, does the 12.50 get deducted from the bill??

For example, in your above sample, if your bill was $100 and you got 50% off, you paid $50. But then you also spent $12.50 on the coupon, so really you spent $62.50. Right? Am I understanding this?
