We have 3 weeks in Fl and are staying in a condo about 20 minutes away because the cost was just TOO low $600 total... anyway, we plan to cook at the condo and do sandwiches for lunch but have nice dinners... has anyone used restaurant.com either their website or on ebay? Can I use the grosvenor resort one on their character meal?? Thanks! Steph:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

and they are great! I've never used them in FL, but I did buy one to use at the Club Car in the FL Holiday Inn. The best thing about them is after you pay, you can almost immediately print them out- no waiting for shipping. Some of the menus are shown on their website. I believe I have read on these boards that people have used them on the character breakfast at the Grovesner, but you don't get change back.

I have used restaurant.com for restaurants here at home but I would imagine it worked the same in Florida. IT was very easy. I purchased one directly from restaurant.com and was able to print the gift certificate off immediately. I also bid on one once on eBay and had good success.

Remember though that you can only use one coupon per restaurant per month from restaurant.com, so keep that in mind if you purchase them.

I was planning on getting the one for teh Grosvenor and I called the restaurant and asked specifically if it could be used for the character breakfast and they said yes. Although I haven't personally tried it yet. I will report back in November when I do.

Just another person who wanted to report in that I have used restaurants.com with success in the past. I know that sometimes sites like this may look shady on the internet, but this is a very respectable site. Just make sure that you read all of the details prior to bidding. Some restaurants have rules about when and for what you can use the certificates (for example, not on a Friday night, or not for Sunday brunch, not on alcohol). The certificates can be printed immediately and I have never gone to a restaurant that didn't understand what they were, and they have never had a hard time honoring them. As another poster mentioned, it is important to note that you can only use one per restaurant per month. However that means that you could print out and use one per month for as many "different" restaurants as you want. Also if you are going as a large party but plan on having separate checks, you can only use one certificate "per party." Definitely check on Ebay for the specific restaurants you are looking for as they often have them well below the $12.50 fee you pay through the web site.

We leave Thursday and I found the Sbarro one for $1 (on ebay) so I will try that, it seems really cheap and good for a quick meal... and I will get the Grosvenor one for the character meal as well. I emailed the person who was linked with the ebay ad and never heard back but when I went to the Baskervilles site directly, I got an email right away... So that will be a great character meal!! Thanks for all the tips! Steph mom to Sam 6:earsboy: Megan 5:earsgirl: Grace 2 1/2:earsgirl: and Mark jr 9 weeks:earsboy:

One question, is there a breakfast menu there or is it a buffet?? Did you say there was a direct website??
Thanks!!!!:Pinkbounc

I have used restaurant.com a few times with varying degrees of success. A resturant near my house in RI was on it for a while and I won several gift certificates there. The first few times, I had no problems. So, I bought a couple more. One day, I went to pay after having a rather expensive meal and the waiter said "I'm sorry we don't take these anymore." HUH? WHAT? The certificate said it expired in April 2004. I asked to speak to the manager and he said that I would have to take it up with the website. So, I called first and got a rude person who said that all sales were final and that she wouldn't refund my money and that she couldn't find my sale in their computer. Granted, I paid like $3 on e-bay for a $25 gift certificate, but it was the principle of the matter. Then I e-mailed a nasty gram to them and got a response that they would refund my $3, but they really didn't have to do it.

Here is the website http://www.grosvenorresort.com/character.html

Thanks so much!! I think I'll keep this one a secret from the kids;) I'll just let them find out on their own! I just have to keep my mouth shut:p

I couldn't find any info on the Grosvenor character breakfast on Deb's site. Can you tell me how much it costs? The coupon says it is for 50% off the cost, but I have no idea what he cost is? Also, would that be 50% off the total cost for the party ( 2 adults/2 kids) or do I have to buy one for each of us?

Basically, you get a $25 gift certificate, but only pay $12.50.

I called for prices for our June trip and the prices at the time were something like $12.99 for adults and $6.99 for kids. I remember because I was thinking basically we were getting one adult free with the certificate.

The character breakfast is only available on select days. When I called to inquire for our last trip, the breakfasts were T, Th, S.

One question I do have is on the restaurant.com website, there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the baskerville certificate says:

For dinner only before 7 pm. Not valid for Thanksgiving day.

Do you think it means that if you use the certificate for dinner that it has to be before 7? Or do you think it means for dinner only (i.e. it will not be good for the breakfast)?

I called and they SAID it was good for the breakfast, but ...

Am I looking in the wrong place, because the certificate I saw was for 50% off, not a fixed $25.00, that is why I asked if it was good for the whole party or if I needed one for each of us ( so that we could each get 50% off)

Here is a link to the Baskervilles certificate

Baskerville Restaurant.com

It is a little deceiving because it does say 50% off food portion of your bill. But if you add this to your shopping cart, it automatically will charge you $12.50 and you will get a $25 gift certificate. That's the 50% off.

Also note that it says 1 certificate per month per customer AND one coupon per party - even if you are seated at 2 tables.

Not only does the certificate say 50%off the ENTIRE food portion, but if you look at this auction on EBay, they even show a chart of how much you can save (taking 50% off for different party size). Hmmm... Either misinformation or false advertising.

BTW, does anyone know who the characters are at this character breakfast?

I spoke to someone at Baskervilles and was told it was 50% off the entire food portion of the bill. Not just $12.50 off. We have 6 with us, one infant.. and I printed out the auction and i would hope they would honor it... Steph

I have been curious about this myself, and in checking at EBay, I see that they auction off 2 different types of GCs from Restaurants.com. One is for a $25 GC and the other is for a 50% off certificate. Maybe they accept the $25 GC for breakfast, but the 50% off only for dinner?

I looked at the Ebay certificate and maybe that one is different. I know that the ones that I have purchased before were that you paid $12.50 and the gift certificate was for $25. If you look at the link I posted earlier that goes directly to restaurant.com (not through eBay) and put it in your shopping cart, it will charge you $12.50.

If someone called the restaurant and they said it was 50% off entire bill, then I would go with that. Make sure you get that person's name.

The one thing that looks strange is if you look real close at the description is says
About the Restaurant:
308509-$25 Baskervilles on the Boulevard at the Grosvenor Resort.

What is that $25???

I wrote to the lady that took our reservation for the Breakfast. I told her what the gc says and if they will still honor it. Once I get a reply, I'll let you know what she says. Also, she told me it was Pluto and Goofy:)

here is the direct response from Mari, she did our reservations

50% off your entire bill up to 8 people! The $25 we don't do anymore!
Mari

Great! That's an even better deal! Did you happen to ask if this type can be used at the breakfast??
