Anyone use DCL transfers from WDW resort

Ok, here's another question, I've called the cruise line and they said unless you are platinum or concierge, nobody boards before 1. So if that's the case, is getting there earlier than1:00 a waste of time? Also, has anyone transferred from port Orleans French quarter, and if so, when did you get in to port?

Obviously, you got one of those CMs who've never even been to the port, much less on a DCL cruise. Boarding begins around 11:15-11:30 with Concierge and Platinum guests, then immediately with boarding numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Roughly every 5-10 minutes the announce the next group number.

Now, the people from the WDW resorts, arriving by DCL transfers don't generally start arriving until about 12:30-1:00, so there is a large group that starts boarding in that time frame.

But it's not true that "nobody boards before 1, unless they're concierge or platinum". There are plenty of people who are onboard prior to 1:00 that aren't in either of those groups.

Thanks for all the responses.

We were considering this for the ease of it so all that running around chasing buses seems a bit to much for me. Not that it didn't cross my mind as well. :rotfl:

This is our 8th cruise so really there isn't a rush to check out the ship but really don't want to have to buy a late breakfast when I know I can get a free lunch on the ship. I posted this thread because I read somewhere that someone got there at 4:00 and that really scared me.

Arriving at 4 must have been a huge fluke.

Last RCCL cruise we were on our way back towards the shop when it became obvious my son needed food NOW. We ended up having late lunch at hard rock in st Maarten when we could see the ship out at the pier, just waiting for us. Frustrating but I know the kid and know it would have taken half an hour to get to the ship then longer to get to food and it would have been awful for all of us. Frustrating!

Please eat before heading to the ship. You'll feel better. Late breakfast, early, just do eat real food. :)

I'm glad you said it had to be a fluke. I can live with 1:00 -1:30.

Since the luggage has to be gone early I'm sure they will want breakfast or brunch that morning because no one will go back to bed I'm sure.

We have eaten in St Maritn too. They wanted to go to McDonalds of all places just to say they ate there to their friends.

Hi! We've "met" over on our cruise's FB page. We're taking DCL ground transfers for the first time, doing it this trip because we will be travelling with our son's power wheelchair rather than manual, and we can't use the town car service we usually use. We're concerned about late arrival, and will have fingers crossed! We figure our teenages boys will appreciate the extra sleep. We also have late dining this time, so a later lunch will be okay.

Maybe we will be on the same transfers. We also are have late dinner , never a lack of food anywhere. That's what the kids like them most. I let them just as long as they don't waste anything and the boy does not waste. :lmao: It is their vacation.

Ok, thanks for the info, we are just going to rent a car and drive. Less hassle and not too expensive.

We just got home from our cruise using the DLC transfers.

They picked us up at 11:45 at POR and one pick up before ours at French Quarter. Got to the ship at 1:20. Walked right on went to our stateroom dropped off our carry on stuff and headed to Cabana's for some lunch. Well more like a snack since we ate at the hotel. So all was good.

Used them to the airport too. Ate at Cabana's and pretty well just walked off the ship and though the terminal pretty quick at 8:00 am. Only thing is they drop you off at "B" terminal on the lower level and had to go to the third level on "A" side to got to Southwest airline to check our luggage. It was doable though.

Has anyone ever used Sunshine Limousine & Sedan service for transportation to or from DCL?

No but we have used Tiffany Town Car all our other times. We are only four people with 4 pieces of luggage so it fits in a town car. If we had more luggage we would have to move up to a van which is more money .
