Anyone use Bare Minerals Escentuals products?

Couple of questions....

1) How often do you girls wash your Kabuki brush?

2) Are there any other containers/compacts to put this make-up in? My fears were realized this morning as I dropped my entire jar of warmth as I was opening it. Gr!! The entire jar emptied itself on my counter (fortunately not the floor) so I was able to salvage most of it. Am I the only clutzy one here that used BE? :rotfl2: There's got to be an easier way!

They recommend washing the brush every week. If you don't wash it often enough the fibers will get brittle and fall out of the brush (happened to me with the original "flawless application brush"). Use asmall amount of a very mildsoap, like Dove or Ivory.

Yes they do sell a compact (see QVC- $25.00) however my experience is worse with that for spillage than the original containers. If you keep the sifters in the containers and only open a few holes, the spillage should be minimized. Most of us have dropped or spilled a container at least once. I think it is past of the initiation ritual- lol.

I looked up the ingredients in Sheer Cover and ALL the products have what your are allerigic to! The Methylparaben is in the foundation,Propylparaben is in the concealer, Methylparaben and Propylparaben are both in the finishing powder,ALL of these are in the Purifying Cleanser Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben and last but not least the Nourishing Moisturizer SPF 15 has Methylparaben, Propylparaben in it.

You should skip Sheer Cover!!

Thanks for checking all the products! It's really hard to find any makeup products without those ingredients, so I guess I will just keep looking. It really surprizes me that so many companies use those ingredients as my understanding is that they are Petroleum preservatives.

I haven't read every single post here, so forgive me if this was discussed. What does everyone use as a mosturizer under their BE. I use the skin rever-upper, but that really is not a mosturizer. I am 49 so I have some crows feet & wrinkles, but also have oily skin with occasional breakouts and large pores (this somehow seems so unfair to have BOTH!)

Anyway, wondering what everyone uses.

SalandJeff,

From your description, I'd say our skin problems are similar. I just began using Hope in a Jar by Philosophy and I love it.
It absorbs into your skin within seconds!! No greasy or oily residue either!
Leaves your face feeling very soft and smooth.
I wash with Purity made Simple by Philosophy too. It's fantastic!
The only down side :( they ARE expensive initially, (approx. $30. ea. for the larger size) but I can tell they are going to last a LONG time because you only use a little of each per day.
I know you can get a sample size. Read this thread and you will find out LOTS of good info on this topic. ::yes::

Okay ladies I am considering taking the plunge. My skin is very fair, but we are going to Disney soon and I will tan a little before and hope to tan there. How do you handle that skin tone change with this? I don't want to buy two kits? Also if I go to a Sephora store (2 hours away) do they give the same deals as they have on line?

Thanks for any info you can share!

I also use Hope in a Jar and love it. It sounds like we have similar concerns SalandJeff. Using mineral veil over my makeup helps with the potential shine appearance.

I have very fair skin too. I bought the starter kit from Sephora. It comes with 2 foundation colors. One is the right shade for me now and the other is a little darker and will be good if I get a tan. You can also mix them in the lid if the other one is still too dark. I don't know anything about the store because I bought online.

As I tan I mix warmth in with my foundation (I'm a medium #3). That's what is soooo cool about the product. You can mix it in the lid. So my foundation gradually deepens along with my tan. I always use sunscreen on my face which means my face is always lighter than the rest of my body. I use nutregena sunless tanner on my face then as the tan on my body deepens I add the warmth. Then use straight (pure - no mixing) warmth on my cheekbones for blush.

My kit came with 2 colors, fairly light & light and I mixed the 2 to get my perfect color. I figure I could always do as some others suggested and mix some warmth in too as the sun starts coming out around here.

I use Loreal products for cleansing & toning, they just work better for me than the really expensive products I've tried. I use the cleanser & toner, then the BE Skin Rever Upper, then my usual moisturizer. I heard someone ask Leslie when she was on QVC about it and she said that they Skin Rever Upper can either go on before or after your moisturizer, that there is no wrong way. HTH!

According to Bare Minerals website Leslie will be on QVC soon...I'm holding out ordering the starter kit until I see this in case they offer a great deal again.

I've always been curious about this makeup. I started reading this thread yesterday. Last night there was an informercial with Lisa Gibbons and Melissa Gilbert selling Sheercover/Bare Essentials makeup. It looks similar, but is it the same as Bare Escentuals? They had a starter kit for $29.95 + shp.

They are not the same thing. Sheer Cover is a different product along the same lines as bare minerals. I looked at both of them at Ulta before I went with Bare Minerals. I absolutelty love it, and I have had tons of compliments on my make-up since I started using it.

My mom started with the Sheer Coverage about 18 months ago, then she saw I was using BM, and she tried mine. She LOVED the BM. She gave most of her Sheer Coverage away (she kept the concealer) and has being using BM for over a year.

I love love love BE too! FYI - Ulta just started getting in the new spring colors this week.

I received my QVC order (thanks to all of you I had purchased the brushes I knew I would need on ebay for half the price) and all I can say is WOW! I love how it makes me look! Kind of a candlelight time of look. I've started out using very little (again, based on all of you) and so far no one has looked startled when they see me. It can be a quick thing, but I can also see how you could "play" with them for quite a while.
So far-
Bisque for concealment
foundation
radiance
blush
(mineral veil when it arrives)
eyeshadow and liner
mascara
I've been able to do this in 5-10 minutes and I am so happy!
I also got a retractable brush for my purse that I "pre-charge" with some radiance.
Thanks for everyone's advice!

Hi! I am just about out of my concealer and would also like to purchase some bisque. Who has the best price for purchasing BE right now? Any good deals? Or should I go through ebay?

I love bare minerals to and I just found out that Nordstom in Lynnwood, Wa carries a great deal of their product and brushes they have some wonderful shimmery shadows trios too!

I love the way BE makes my skin look for a few hours .... what can I use to make it last longer?

(I use my aveeno moisturizer, then BE foundation, warmth and veil -- in that order)
