Has anyone ever used a screen protector on your LCD lens to protect it from scratches? Does it interfere with the view on the screen?

I actually don't use "screen protectors" in the sense that I don't purchase the ones that are designated for it. I just purchase clear printable window decals (easily found in Staples where they have all of the different printable materials). You receive a bunch of pages (8.5 x 11) for only a few bucks. All you have to do is cut them to size. I find that they do the same thing as the ones you can purchase in the camera section for a much cheaper price. Also, it's so easy to replace if they fall of or get yucky. I don't find any difference in viewing the LCD with it either. The only thing that ruined the decal, and I had a change a few times because of it, was when I would take pictures at a swim meet and the chlorinated water hit it. It never damaged the LCD, just the protector. No biggie, just cut another one!

I bought some of the stick on sheet ones for my D50. If you get it one smoothly it doesn't interfere. As far as the pop up screen protectors- I have one for one of my point and shoots and I never put it on. I didn't realize when I bought it that you stick it on and it stays there. I don't think i'd like it.

This is something I never even thought about getting for my Canon S3 IS. My LCD viewfinder tends to get fingerprints on it a lot, but other than wiping it off, I never thought about a protective covering.

I wonder....when the sun is really bright and I have a hard time seeing the LCD viewfinder, I'll just use the regular viewfinder on my camera - the one where you have to put it up to your eye (I'm sure there's a technical term for it). But I know there are some P&S cameras that don't have the regular viewfinder. Would you guys be able to get some type of anti-glare or polarizing stick-on film to help you see the LCD viewfinder better?

The stick on protectors wont help because they are just as shiny... I've never seen an anti-glare film... I've seen anti-glare sprays that you can spray on glass but it really isn't optical quality stuff and would mess up the detail on the LCD screen... And sadly I don't think any type of polarizing film would work since the LCD itself uses polarization of light to function... I think the only option you really have is cupping your hand around the screen.

They make a pop up screen cover that shades the lcd screen. Works well. It sticks right onto the camera so its not something you put on and take off all the time.

i have this, it works ok mainly for adding a little more shade to view the lcd screen( i have transition lenses in my glasses which make lcd viewing in sun impossible) and keep off nose grease but i don't use it...it's a pain imo to have to keep opening it to view histogram etc. and you can't shoot with it open since you can't get to the eyepiece. good idea but application not as good imo

My minolta 7D came with a plastic protector thaat clipped on over the lcd screen, after I lost that, I bought the Delkin pop up shade, a part of that fell off, and they were kind enough to send me a new hood as a free replacement, since this was apparently a design flaw and they didn't have replacement parts available, after trying to use it for a while and concluding the same thing as jann1033, I removed it from my camera, and have been living dangerously since by practicing unsafe photography

I bought a pack of LCD stick on covers from wal-mart for $5, cut it to size and slapped it on my 40D. Many people don't believe in using LCD covers as the LCD is actually already covered by the hard plastic that the LCD cover is covering....oh boy now I'm dizzy:faint:
