Nope. Someone I used to work with in sales, then became a Life Coach. As far as I know, there's no licensing, regulating, or requirements to become one.
Yes!!! I've used two different ones at two different points in my life. In both cases the sessions were paid for by my employer and in both cases they helped me realize that I should quit my job haha!

There is some type of accreditation. One that I used offered heavily discounted rates because she had to get like 250 hours under her belt to get her "certification" or whatever it is. You don't have to have it to practice, but there is some type of way to distinguish the real ones from the hacks.
Got a uncle is a life coach. He makes a very good living off of it. He has filed for bankruptcy. Lives way out of his means. He needs to practice what he teaches.
I don't have a problem that life coaches exist. IMO they're kind of like hiring out someone to listen and advise when you don't have friends and family to fill that role or need a neutral person. Sometimes people really get stuck and actually WANT someone to tell them what to do. There are so many things I consider a waste of money that are actually helpful to other people.
I do enjoy the running joke on "The Conner's" where Aunt Jackie, a character that is pretty messed up all around, is a certified life coach.
