Anyone upgrade their catagory just before boarding,If yes from what cat to cat? and how much was the extra cost? Thanks

I am curious about this as well, but the thing I wonder about is did you have any trouble getting your luggage to the correct cabin, or getting any gifts/deliveries to the correct cabin (i.e. REAS basket, CC Club Gifts, etc.)?

Want to hear also. If the ship is full you might be out of luck. :confused3

It CAN happen. Most of the time its not available because the ships sail "full". You would need to arrive at the port early to get a shot at upgrading. The cost of the upgrade is based on the number of category jump you are taking - but it is less than the cost of upgrading before your cruise (or at the time of booking).

Just remember, it's not available very often.

Can't tell you about upgrading but we switched cabins with my Mom and Aunt and all but one of our bags (the first one delivered) made it to the right cabin.

If you get upgraded, be sure to tell your room host about the switch and he/she will keep an eye out for your luggage.

On our cruise in May 04, "Captain Mickey says the cruise is full so no upgrades are available."

I *just* posted about this. Ugh. :guilty:

Please do not plan on an upgrade being available at the port. Most of the time, it is not. Book a cabin that you will be happy in. Then, if you are able to upgrade, that's a bonus. Do not book with the intention of getting an upgrade or you very likely will be disappointed.

When you switched cabins, did they give you a new KTTW card? We are traveling in three cabins next to each other and are hoping to switch two of the cabins. Has anyone done this before?

I tried to upgrade my cat to a dog once, but they wouldn't let me board with then.....

We had friends that did this at port last year in FL and got a great upgrade rate (like a difference of a few hundred dollars going from cat 9 to cat 5)...we looked up what rooms were available on our cruise (first west coast one) and were ready at port w/what room #s to ask for (we had two cat 9 and were hoping to go up to 2 connecting open cat 6)...well, they knew NOTHING at check-in (didn't even know how to check us in for that matter) and told us to ask on the boat....on the boat, they were all confused as well (guest services was less than helpful on several other maters as well, but that's another story) so we ended up staying w/our cat 9 which was fine and definitely livable.

So the moral of my story is...if the gods are smiling down at you, yes, you might have a chance...but if it's overcast and the gods are facing the wrong direction, you are out of luck!
