Hi Guys...

A couple of friends of mine habe been taking the Hcg drops and have been having huge sucess with it... losing a lot of weight.

I wouldn't do it long term but I was tempted to try it for a month just to get my motivation back.... has anyone tried them? any sucess? any side effects? I would love to hear the good or bad...

Thanks

I never heard of them before, so I just Googled them..
$80.00 for 15 days suppply seems steep..
BUT, if you personally know of people who've had success with them, maybe ask them for a few drops to see if you have any reaction..
Let me know if they work..I'm a sucker for any quick weight loss 'trick'..

my cousins are all doing this, they have lost a lot of weight but I really worry about the safety issue. They are eating less than 500 calories a day. I dont see how that can be healthy at all! There food is so limited, no sugar no this no that. I was blown away by how restricitive the diet is!

I bought them... it was $69 for a 43 day supply... I am going to visit my in laws next week so I am going to try them when I get home... it is very restricted not something I would normally try but I thought 43 days can't be that bad. I will let you guys know.

I love HCG. Im currently on my third round. It has to be spaced out appropriately etc but I love it!

For people who have questions:
How Does HCG Work
When HCG is combined with a very low-calorie diet it makes abnormal fat available for consumption by the body, which reduces cravings and enables a person to stick to the diet and lose on average a pound per day.

HCG actually targets the hypothalamus in the brain, which regulates the digestive system’s ability to receive, coordinate, and respond to metabolic cues and signals from the digestive system. By integrating these metabolic signals, the hypothalamus tells us when we need to eat to maintain a metabolic (body weight) “set point,” much like a thermostat for your furnace.

When administered in small daily doses, HCG helps to “mobilize” or make available for fuel the abnormal fat deposits that have formed around the hips, thighs, abdomen, and upper arms. This facilitates a “targeted” loss in people who, after a history of dieting, find it difficult to lose weight.

Difference Between HCG Diet and Low Calorie Diets
Many people have asked us, “won’t I lose weight on a low-calorie diet, no matter what?” That question is very reasonable until you understand what the HCG does for you while reducing your food intake. You would have some weight loss with just a 500-calorie diet; however, you would not have the energy to maintain daily activities like work and taking care of a family. With HCG, your body will get all the calories it needs to function by burning abnormal fat stores. Without HCG to direct the body about which type of fat to burn, a low-calorie diet will result in the destruction of structural and normal fat and even muscle.

Won’t my metabolism slow down on a low-calorie diet?
Normally, when one cuts back calories and fat, the body stores abnormal fat and consumes structural and normal fat tissue, resulting in a lower metabolic rate and a high chance of weight gain. However, when a very specific, low-calorie diet is used in conjunction with HCG, the hormone signals the body to consume abnormal fat cells, thus decreasing excess fat reserves without compromising body structure. It’s a natural process, so no ill effects on metabolism result.

Just saying.. its really popular where I live and people love it!

I'm definitely intrigued! Would you mind sharing your weight loss experience since using it?? I wouldn't mind learning more about it.

I just ordered some today after reading about them here then doing some research on other sites. I've read some really great success stories. I'll share here after I've tried them.

These drops have always seemed like a scam to me. The real weight loss is coming from the drastic calorie reduction that you have to undergo with them. If you look at a normal person who should eat 2000 calories per day to maintain weight and have them eat 500 calories per day it would be expected to lose around 3 pounds per week. (2000-500= 1500 calories extra burned per day, 10,500 extra calories burned per week, divided by 3500 calories per pound = 3 pounds per week)

It is this calorie reduction that is creating this weight loss and the drops have no effect other than motivation to stick to the diet. Once this period is over I assume that most people would gain alot of the weight back once they resume their standard diet.

http://www.dietscam.org/reports/hcg.shtml

http://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/diet-fitness/weight-loss/hcg-diet.htm - states that the drug is approved for use as a fertility drug and that scientific studies have not shown any increased weight loss in controlled studies.

also it was not stated if the drops in question are homeopathic. I believe that most of them are. Homeopathic remedies are diluted to such an extent that there is not a single molecule of the active substance left in the final solution.

I have found that there is no quick and easy way to weight loss. what has worked for me is eating smarter and moving more. I am down about 50 pounds over the past 3 years and am a healthier, not just skinnier, person because of it. Skinny people can be very unhealthy and that seems to be what the goal of this crash diet is.

Well said! :goodvibes

i am on them right now as we speak, first round, day 29, and have lost a total of 22 lbs! i'm trying to get to 30 by time 40 days is over!!

but yeah they totally work, and even though your food is very limited the outcome is very rewarding

i'm planning to do my next round in october!

Im on day 17. Down 12 pounds and 14 inches!

This is my 3rd round in the past year... and I have never gained any weight back.

I love HCG.. after the 500 calories you continue onto a diet of 1200-1500 calories. lean meats, fruits, veggies, proteins, etc. So HCG is actually resetting your system (hypothalamus) and then training your body to eat those good things!

If I ate 500 calories without the HCG drops .. sure I would lose weight but then the second I ate something else I would gain all the weight back. I would also burn muscle not fat without the HCG.

MIZZO- Your diet method may work FOR YOU... but it sure does not work for everyone! After plenty of struggles and eating disorders/relapses... I do not need a stranger to tell me about good methods..Im the ONLY person who knows my body. Not everyone is as lucky as the next person in the weight/height/size etc. "Skinny" is not my goal. Feeling comfortable in my own skin is.

This is not a crash diet.. it is a process.

I am sorry Meagan if offended you but I believe that the science behind this backs up my claims. I did not come on here to single out any individual about the use of HGC. I simply want to ensure that the scientific facts of their effectiveness are fairly portrayed. I am a firm believer in science and demand that there is solid repeatable evidence to a substances effectiveness before I would consider using it. This evidence just is not there for these drops. The marketing for the drop manufacturers is the only information that I have seen that shows any benefit to the drops. Controlled studies have been done on this type of treatment and they show absolutely no benefit to using this hormone to lose weight. They state that there is no additional weight loss, no decreased hunger, no ability to control where the loss is coming from. HCG is not "actually resetting your system (hypothalamus)" You are the one training your body to eat "those good things" not some snake oil drops. Here are links to two studies that show this along with their conclusions:

"Subjects receiving HCG injections showed no advantages over those on placebo in respect of any of the variables recorded. Furthermore, weight loss on our diet was similar to that on severely restricted intake. We conclude that there is no rationale for the use of HCG injections in the treatment of obesity." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/...ez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum.

"There was no statistically significant difference in the means of the two groups in number of injections received, weight loss, percent of weight loss, hip and waist circumference, weight loss per injections, or in hunger ratings. HCG does not appear to enhance the effectiveness of a rigidly imposed regimen for weight reduction."
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/786001

The truth is that the HCG drops are a scam that has participants doing the very definition of a crash diet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crash_diet . Of course the weight will come off because of the drastic reduction in calories and you can keep off the weight if you stay with a reasonable diet afterwords. That does not change the fact that it is very dangerous and unhealthy to go on that low of a calorie intake. Meagan you say that my diet method does not work for everyone but it really does work. It is also similar to what you have done, just in moderation. We all just need to eat less and move more. We need to track calories in -vs- out and keep burning more than we eat. There is no quick fix to losing weight just a lot of hard work.

Meagan if you have the determination to stick with this type of extreme diet I know that you have it in you to complete a more moderate version, all without wasting cash on the drops. You must be very strong to make it through all of that sacrificing and it seems that you are discovering the benefits of eating a healthy diet of lean protein, fruits, veggies and everything else good for us.
Here are a few additional article that talk about the ineffectiveness of this diet.

Also please don't forget that the man, Kevin Trudeau responsible for bringing this form of treatment back in vogue is a convicted fraud. guilty of pushing made up "natural cures" on cancer patients with no backing. He is a real low life.

I was going to chime in earlier on this thread and sorry, I am not a believer in using a chemical fix to a habitual, lifestyle issue. THAT IS up to the point where one can demonstrate a medical cause. Then that becomes an issue between doctor and patient.

When one Googles HCG and reads information for trusted authorities, one would never put it in their bodies on purpose. It is not even labelled for use as a weight loss supplement. Clearly one must step back and think.

Regardless, I understand how desparate one can feel when no matter what they try just does not work. But I would submit that if one loses significant weight using an aid such as HCG and does NOT make a lifestyle change they will yo-yo right back to where they came from - only if the drug proves to have other issues like ephedra and others pulled from the shelves you may have created a ticking time bomb. And since this is an off-label use, who really knows waht that bomb is.

I will not judge anyone for what they do - but I will challenge you to think it through and to complete the life style change, also.

What is the lifestyle change? Eating whole, fressh, colorful non-processed food. Shopping the perimeter of the store and avoiding the brown overly processed foods found in the center of the store. Exercise; both cardio and strength training. Finally, patience. You did not gain the excess weight in a year, you should not plan on losing it in a year or less.

Again, my intentions are not to offend any user of this drug, only to splash a cold dose of reality on the thought that fast is better.

[ADDED] Plus on the drive home I started thinking - 500Kcal/day. In all seriousness, that is not enough. Not sure how one would bring in sufficient amino acids and essential fatty acids to stay healthy. The sales pitch is you ae living on fat, in reality you are losing muscle, also. Your body WILL canibalize itself to acquire the proper nutrients to keep the organs fuctioning, at the expense of the legs, arms, back, etc.

Mizzo- Sorry I sort of flew off the handle. It is a very touchy subject for myself. I know what my body wants.. and what it wants is for me to eat one meal a day and work out for atleast an hour (in general not on HCG, just on a daily basis.) If I eat more it shows.. if I even look at chocolate it shows. Not everyone is lucky to be thin or just have the perfect body.

Kevin Trudeau is definitely a low life.

Dr. Simeons was the first to publish a topic on HCG over 30 yrs ago and has been changing lives ever since. People are prescribed HCG through homeopathic doctors to lose weight.. and yes I know it is also for pregnancy.

I know how I felt when I was starving myself back in 2001-2002.. and I definitely do not feel like that now. I knew how my body ached, my hair fell out, etc. It is not like that right now.

Please do not think that Homeopaths are doctors. There is absolutely no scientific evidence that Homeopathic works beyond a placebo effect. The homeopathic "remedies" are nothing but water, alcohol, or sugar depending on the form. They have been proven to have no medical benefit to them. The entire field is snake oil and quackery at its worst.

Also the use of HGC as a homeopathic remedies violates even the basic tenets of homeopathic "medicine". The belief of what causes the problem solves the problem is violated here. If it was to follow the homeopathic principles HGC would need to make you fat at full dosages. The true homeopathic remedy for weight loss should be a 30C dosage of Bacon. But that wouldn't sell all that well would it.

Please read this very visual description of Homeopathic ideas.

Homeopathic ideas have been rejected around the world because it does not work.

And it can even be deadly when substituted for real scientific health care.

I cannot say I have ever used Hcg drops, but I can give my own personal experience with a very low calorie diet. This discussion comes at a perfect time because I am currently recovering from the aftermath of a very low calorie diet.

I thought if I could just jump start my weight loss with a very low calorie diet I would become motivated to get back into Weight Watchers (slower but healthier). My doctor gave me the okay and I started a plan that was offered through a local hospital system.

I started the plan at the beginning of March and ended it in the middle of May. My total weight loss was 34lbs. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to enjoy too much of my weight loss. You see, since May I have been dealing with crazy skin/allergy issues, my hair was falling out (thankfully that has slowed down), and last week I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery. The gallstones I developed are in direct relation to the diet.

I still have weight to loose, but while I was off on medical leave (thanks to the "safe diet"), I marched my butt right back into weight watchers. I have learned my lesson regarding rapid weight loss diets.

This is just my experience, but I thought I should share.

Good Luck Susan

One thing that has helped me out immensely is the iphone app loseit! The ease of calorie tracking on the phone has been a huge help. I had been stuck around 205 for about a year. I started using that app about a month ago to track things and the weight has finally been going down again. Just last night I weighed in under 200 lbs for the first time in a decade. The app really helps you to see where you need to improve on. Plus it is free if you have a iphone or ipod touch.

Thanks Coach.
I did want to add that for most of my 20's I took every kind of ephedra pill you could get, Mini Thin, Metoblife, Ripped Fuel. I worked out 2-4 hours a day and worked two jobs. I was thin and I was sick. I stopped the pill and have gained the weight back 10 fold. I still work out, the weight is coming of slow. 15 lbs for this year. I still to this day have issue with my heart rate. After my experience. I would BEG everyone to think twice.

Talk about the best weight loss journey I have ever experienced. The plus with the program is I couldn't believe how much energy I had. Yes, hungry occasionally. Spent about $2 a day on food, if that... so I actually saved money.

I got my HCG diet drops from HCG Providers. I then started selling the drops through them. They have a trial distributor program for $149 for 6 bottles. HCG Wholesale prices are part of the perk, plus they have a great marketing program to help you sell yourself.

Love, love, love HCG and have helped so many people lose weight on it.

You can read more about it at www.hcgproviders.com.

I'm on my second round now and I'm down about 8 pounds so far. I lost a little over 20 pounds on my first round. I never felt hungry or sluggish or anything. I also learned the difference between what hunger is and just wanting to eat something.

I took about 3 weeks off in between, during which we went to Disney. For the first two weeks I followed the maintenance plan but I started introducing sugar and starch in right away which is a no no, but didn't cause me any problems. I maintained the weight perfectly. Of course I didn't go overboard and eat cake all day, but if I wanted a bite of something I had it. Disney was another story and I did gain about 4 pounds on that trip.

I started my second round as soon as we got home and easily dropped the weight I had gained. So far this round is going good. My goal is to lose another 15 pounds before the holidays.
