Is it really packed for the long weekend?

I just returned from WDW this AM and crowds have been crazy since wed. and getting bigger.

We just got back on 10/7. The crowds were crazy in the Magic Kingdom. The place was PACKED by noon, so we went back to our resort around 1:30 simply to escape the crowds.

We headed back around 6 pm, and it was just as crowded.

I'm guessing the crowds are probably a result of people cancelling & re-scheduling due to the past few hurricanes.

Looks like we left just in time. We were there 10/3-10/5 and it wasn't crowded at all except at MK for MNSSHP on 10/3. It's probably crowded now due to the holiday weekend.

Since the holiday is tomorrow, do you think the parks will be more crowed this past weekend through tomorrow or do you see the crowds sticking it out to the following weekend, leaving fri 10/15 hoping for low crowds.

My son's school has off Friday instead of Monday. So Friday might be crowded as well. We'll be there!!

Alot of the schools in Florida are not celebrating Columbus day due to missing so many days of school already from the hurricanes.

Many Florida schools have this coming Friday as the Holiday. So, I would expect a fairly heavy weekend coming up. Also, the following Weekend (Oct 22-25) is virtually sold out at the resorts. So, we are in a fairly heavy stretch right now. It should loosen up between Nov 1 and just before T-giving (except for Veteran's Weekend.)

I have to agree with the above posters.........I just returned from 4 days at the WL and it was much worse than I expected. EPCOT was packed last night, looked like a July evening. Also the resort I believe was full, although I have to say the weather is getting nicer each day!

The parks were very busy yesterday and today, and are expected to be pretty busy again tomorrow.

Epcot was a zoo yesterday (10/9). By 3 PM, World Showcase was packed, very difficult to walk around the promanade. All of the boths for the Food and Wine Festival had 20 to 30 minute waits. We stayed at the Beach Club. The resort was quiet until Friday when there were alot of people checking in. The line for check-in was almost out of the door Friday afternoon. The lobby was packed Sat. morning with people trying to get breakfast at Rip Tide. Also Stromalong Bay was busier than I have ever seen it on Sat. afternoon. You could not find a lounge chair anywhere and they were checking resort ID's. I will try to get a report written later. Just returned home after an 8 hour drive.

We just got back yesterday from a week at the world. Crowds were very low until Friday. Epcot was PACKED Friday night. DH and I agreed we were glad to be leaving (not really, but we had to make ourselves feel better, somehow!)!

We were there yesterday and I was surprised by how crowded it was. We went to AK during the day and it was packed! I've honestly never seen it that crowded there. Then we hopped to MK and it was also crowded, but not horrible. After AK, I was braced for MK to be a zoo, but it wasn't THAT bad. It was crowded though!

I agree that a lot of people were probably just there for the long weekend. However, I did try calling for a room next Saturday (10/16) and there wasn't anything at the moderates...

We've gone almost every year around this time, and the Columbus Day weekend was always pretty nuts. We are trying the end of Oct this year. Hopefully it won't be that crazy.

Crowds at EPCOT were unreal yesterday! Called as we got on a boat from MGM after the parade, had to try three restaurants before I got us in at 9 Dragons. Quite good by the way. WS was completely packed, everyone seemed to be trying todrink their way around the world. Saw about 5 minutes of Starship. Concert appeared to last about thirty minutes a set. We left before Illuminations, just too many people. MNSHP was fun on Saturday but seemed a bit crowded from what I had read had occurred on the prior days. Got back to the Poly to find the pool closed for sanitizing. Girls were quite upset. Didn't want to try the quiet pool though. Pool still closed this morning. Hmmm. Check in from the WL to Poly was a zoo. Our room was not ready till close to 4. Manger (Mark, really nice guy) was great about it though. HTH

We arrived last Sat. and checked out yesterday.
The parks were slow until Friday. We noticed a huge difference in the crowds. We stayed at Poly, and wanted to add an extra night on to our reservation (no preferences), and were told they had no rooms available. (this would have been for last night).
I have read on the boards that this tend to be a busy weekend due to Columbus day, so maybe it will diminish in the week.

We are going Sunday the 17th and leaving Friday, which i see seems good because everyone is saying thats when the crowds are getting bad, i really hope its not crowded that week we were looking forward to a more relaxing trip because we've never been to disney other than crazy july!!!!!!

Me too. We will get there on the 15th and move to Universal on the 21st for three days. I was hoping to catch Disney and Universal at a slow time. Oh well, I'm sure we will have a good time anyway.

You guys have me worried now..

We are going next October, checking in the Sunday (10/2) a week before the holiday and checking out the Saturday (10/8) of the holiday weekend (holiday is 10/11 next year).. Is it going to be packed or will the crowds arrive near the end of the week? If Friday is going to be packed, what do you suggest we plan for that day as it is our last full day there.
