Anyone there now that can comment on FP enforcement

Any confirmation from your friend about being allowed to actually enter 5 minutes early? There have been multiple reports that people have NOT been allowed early entry. Only the 15 minute grace period after the expired time and nothing early from the posts I have read.

Yes, he told me that they were not allowing people on early as best as he could tell. He said he arrived early for one ride (not sure which) and was told to wait. However, he said he was 10 minutes early but the CM did tell him to "come back in 10 minutes" (not 5), so his presumption is that you have to be there on time.

...
There are signs now posted saying the times will be enforced and it is stamped on your Fastpass.

...

We did not see any signs on March 7 saying this. The only signs we saw were ones stating something to the effect, "Please return during the time window stamped on the FP..." There were no CM's warning us as we picked up the FP on March 7; I expected a little more warning for unsuspecting guests.

We were warned about March 7 changes by some CM's when we used late FP's on March 4-6.

Someone posted that the CMs were by the machines on the 8th. Maybe the first day they saw that the signs were not enough so they put the CMs in place after that. (??)

All CM's have been made aware of the new changes and they are enforcing it. My daughter works at HS in the college program and was telling me how most people are okay with it, the rest are grumbling when they are sent away.

Yeah, I suspected the same thing. Depending on frequency of visits, some folks will not know about the new policy until they are either warned when picking up or using a FP or maybe only when they try to use a late FP.

I guess I didnt know they didn't, why is this an issue? I always thought if you missed your time, you were SOL, never thought to try to go after the time on the ticket? Was this really a problem?

Same here...I have always been a "stickler" for being on time, it was never an issue with me. So for me...nothing has changed.

thanks - i really thought i was the only one for a while!! Silly me just assumed for something like this to work correctly, you had to show up during your "time". And if you didnt get there during your time either get another fastpass or if none available wait in line with the other folks??

Many feel that the new enforcement is to ready everyone for Next Generation which will let you book in advance Fastpass for certain rides, attractions.

For those that don't read the other forums, they are also testing in March, Fastpass for parades and fireworks, letting them have prime spots to watch from the hub in front of Cinderella's castle.

Here is more info about NextGen. It will be interesting to see where DVC fits in this new program.

Any word on when this is supposed to start? I like the idea.

Do a majority of people really consistently ignore the Fast Pass times that this has became a big problem? In all the years we have been going to WDW and Disneyland I don't think we have missed a FP window. I know there are always extenuating circumstances. Disney set up the FP system for the benefit of the guests. If they can control the amount of people on an attraction at a given time it makes for a better overall experience for the guest. But it is the guests who are basically screwing this up because they choose to ignore the FP rules. People just need to get a clue! Can we start a Fast Pass black list? Ignore the FP rules and your key cards won't work to obtain a FP? I am not ranting against Disney but the millions of people in the world who don't think the rules apply to them.

It's no longer an issue. Disney has stopped the practice of allowing late use. People who used FPs late under the old system will now use them on time (or not at all) under the current system.

On the issue of a ride being down during your fastpass return time...

Do you not think it possible that Disney could stamp your fastpass with something to indicate that the ride was down and assign you another time to come back or something to that effect?

Or do you think that the senerio could be you arrive for your return time, the ride is down and now you have to decide.... do i wait in the fastpass line so i dont lose my turn for however long it takes to get the ride back online or do i forfiet my fastpass turn and come back later and wait in the standby line?

Same thoughts about the future of NextGen or "XPass".... what do you suppose the response will be if during your scheduled time, the ride is off line... do you forfiet your turn?

It will be interesting to see how this all falls into place. We are going in early August so maybe some of the kinks will be worked out by then.

I don't understand why 60 minutes is not enough time to use your fast pass. I have a problem with people who think the rules don't apply for them. With the amount of people riding this seems like a good way to control the numbers. Please be respectful of others.

I wish for a :sigh: smiley--preferably one that I can enlarge.

It's moot now anyway. Your wildest dreams came true two days ago.

Yes please do be respectful of others. The op has asked that this type of discussion be left from this thread. There are planty of other threads to be judgmental regarding this issue.

OP. I have read most of the threads regarding this and the people who are there seemed to be reporting that they started with some flexibility if close to the grace period evolving into what seems to be a hardline cut-off point at the grace period (15 minutes). I have not seen any reports of exceptions being requested for extenuating circumstances. I would be interested to see how these situations are handled as well. It is possible that people are reluctant to report on these instances for fear of being attacked if some decide that their circumstance wasn't extenuating enough.

Last weekend and first part of this week, most CMs at rides were explaining to people that starting (I think Wednesday) the FPs would be enforced. They took the time to explain to anyone who had questions. On Wednesday, they began enforcing them. The CMs in the FP obtaining areas were constantly telling people that the FPs were being enforced.

I watched many people turned away if they attempted to use the FP early or late. I watched a large group turned away who were about 2 hours late. They pitched fits, the CM didn't budge. The CM remained calm and explained the FP rules again.

I watched a family of 6 turned away at 5 minutes late.

We had FPs for 3:05 on Everest and my kids were itching to go at 3:03. I stood aside and the CM asked me our time and I said the time and the CM said, "Thank you for following the rules, please come see me after the ride is over." We rode, went back to the CM, and he handed us FPs to use immediately for a second ride.

In Hollywood, they were out of FPs for all the big rides by noon. We literally bagged going to that park yesterday because FPs wouldn't be available for the time we were going to be in the park that day.

I talked with a nice couple last night at dinner who were at Hollywood and saw lots and lots and lots of disgruntled people who had obtained FPs in the morning for Rockin Roller Coaster, stood in line at another ride, and then couldn't use their FPs.

I think it's a huge adjustment for locals and annual pass holders. For out of towners who go once in a year or once every couple of years....it seems like it's no big deal.

In the end, in my opinion, the enforcement is now strict and they don't bend the rules on the times, at all.

I would think it might be the opposite, speaking as a local and a passholder. We aren't usually there with a touring plan because we can always come back. It's the people who are trying to "maximize" their limited vacation time who I think are having to make the adjustments.

Really? The FPs indicate what time to return, and that late arrivals will not be admitted. Some attractions (if not all, now) have signs atop the FP machines with the same message. Disneyworld.com and the printed theme park guidemaps all explain FP process. The CMs are verbally telling the guests (as you experienced.) What other communication is needed?

My experience has been that out of towners who see FPs with an hour window on them sort of "start out" understanding and following the rule from the get go. The locals and frequent visitors who have been able to use the FPs willy nilly (and I don't mean that in an ugly way....it's been allowed so it is what it is) have the biggest adjustment to make.

In the end, I think the transition has been a very smooth one.

I still think that Hollywood is the least efficient park, and I can see how it the enforcement of times might tick people off who choose to get a FP for a ride with a start time 4 hours later....ugh.

Typically, if an attraction goes down for any significant length of time, FPs for that attraction will be honored at that attraction any time for the remainder of the day.

Sometimes, if an attraction goes down for a very long time, or worse, remains down for the rest of the day, an all-call goes out to the other attractions CMs, advising them to admit FP holders from that "downed" attraction for the rest of that day.
