What's been your experience(s)? What classes did you take? Would you recommend it?

I think I want to start dance classes/lessons. Nothing really particular. I've heard of dance classes for adults, but it's not too late for me to start is it?

I took dance when I was 4. I loved it. It was like jazz I think.

I'm thinking about going into dance again.

irish, ballet, tap, hip hop, and more.

i quit. all of them.
along with any sport i have ever played besides cheer and volleyball.

i was a stubborn child, let me tell you.
i would look at my mom and say "i'm NOT doing it. you cant MAKE me go BACK"

I take irish step dancing.. random i know. But i know that a few other people on here do it too.

I've done it since I was 5 but there were girls who started this year who were around 13/14.

I love doing it. I scared to live without it. I'm starting college in the fall and am still continuing classes because I'm staying instate. But that's just for this year and then I'll see if I'll stick with dance or focus on school.

But it's never too late to start dance. It keeps you active and you could really end up loving it. It doesn't matter what type of class whether it be irish step or ballet or jazz, it just matters if you're having fun.

i used to do ballet, jazz and hip hop. i loved it but decided i wanted to do music lessons instead and thats more expensive. so i quit dancing.

but if you want to get lessons, go for it :)

I do Ballet, Jazz, Musical Production, Lyrical, Irish and have done Tap in the past
I would deffinately reccomend taking a jazz class or a lyrical class if it's just for fun!
If it's more serious I would recommend a Ballet, Jazz, and Lyrical class and Hip- Hop
I don't do Hip- Hop since I'm a girl who's extremely flexible and can jump and turn and that's about it lol

I've done tap for 11/13 of my dance years--I love it! The only thing with tap though, is that you must have some sense of rythem, or you'll totally stink. Trust me. I've seen it. XD.

I've also done ballet--very nice for strength, agility, balance, etc.

Jazz--probably my second favorite. Very fun (highly recommend it).

Lyrical--a combo of ballet and modern. Very pretty, one of my favorite styles to watch. (recommended)

Go for it! It's never too late to start. One of my dancemates, Carrie, did her first year of tap last year (2007-2008 season). She was a Sophomore in HS, so around 15 or so.

It's fun, burns off energy, a great way to stay in shape :)

(Kinda funny though, I have dance registration today. I log onto the DIS, and volia! A thread on dance!)

(Also funny, Damsha04's studio and mine are in the same plaza!)

I've been dancing for 13 years. I've taken tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern, and hip hop. I only take two classes now because I hurt my knee a few years back.
It's not to late at all, I think adult dance classes is a great idea!
The only thing I wouldn't recommend right away is modern. I come home with bruises and scraps all the time because of throwing myself on the floor.
Ballet could be really good for you. It builds up the muscles so it can help with your knee. I believe you still go to PT, so you might want to talk to them before you start anything though.

I did Ballet from 2-5, Jazz from 5-8, Tap from 8-9, Pop from 9-10, and Rock from 10-12. I stopped last year so I could focus mainly on Cheer. But Dance really helps your body become more flexible, it was a good workout.

I've taken dance classes since I was 2 and I still take them now. I've taken ballet,jazz,hip-hop,lyrical,and tap.

If you want get really good in dance, you should take ballet; it's the building block of all other dance.
I love hip-hop and Jazz, they're both very fun.

I did ballet for 9 years and jazz for maybe 2 or 3.
I really wish I'd taken up tap.

What school do you dance for?

I take Irish step dancing as well. It's great! And it doesn't require arm coordination because you are not supposed to move them haha. I don't think is too late to start because it will keep you active and it's good excersize. Also, with Irish dance you could do it just for fun or be competitive with it.

Damhsa Irish Dance Studio. I just did a competition last week with the AAIDT

I Irish Step Dance. I LOVE it. I've been doing it since I was in 1st grade. It's really fun and I've met sooo many friends from there. I used to compete but I stopped last year, I might start competing again this year, idk.

I'd love to take dance, but unfortunately I don't know of any studios. I'd love to do jazz, ballet, or Irish dance. I'd go for it if I was you! Have fun!

OT: but I registered for dance last night! Intermediate Tap & Jazz, on Wednesday nights. I'm so pumped!

This is my 13th year of dance (OMG!), and I love it. I just wouldn't be able to live without it!

I take ballet, jazz, tap, this is my first year I'm old enough (rules at my dance school) to take hip-hop and I am, and the last to years I took a basic irish step class but this year I'm to old for it. I SOOO recomend it. I LOVE dance. If I were you I'd try it out.
