Anyone take Atenolol

Hi there! I'm 33 and have been taking 25mg atenolol once a day for about six months. I've not noticed my hair thinning, but my acne has gotten worse (may or may not be related). You might ask your doctor or pharmacist if this is something related to the atenolol.

I take atenolol for my mitral valve prolapse. I am far from having thining hair! LOL! My hair is so thick my hair dresser has to thin out and whack away bunches to keep it manageable!

I suspicion you may have something else going on nutritionally that is causing the hair loss. Lack of biotin or selenium imbalance comes immediately to mind. Do you take a complete vitamin/mineral supplement everyday?

Jodi, one of my meds is Atenolol. My hair is thinning, but I think it's my age and hormones or lack of...
Don't know if you are in your 50's like me, but agree with the posts that say try the multivitamin.

I've taken atenolol for at least 10 years. I still have plenty of hair on my head (too much in the summer heat). The only side effect I ever had was in the initial 2 weeks and that was hurting wrists (weird). It happened again when my dose was increased, but again only lasted a short while.

I have been taking Atenol for about 2 months (50mg a day) and YES I do notice my hair thinning. In fact when I comb out my hair after washing it I have LOTS of hair in my comb. I thought it was just a coincidence maybe not. Jodi1980 have you asked your doctor about this?
