Now that the values have been open for a few days, I am just curious what they are like. As an AKV owner, they seem to be quite a value. Curious to see some reviews.

Add me to the curious list, we will be staying in a value in May '08.

they are opened.

will be there in March - if no one else posts - will then.

be aware that DVC members here are complaining about the standard size studio as being too small.

Yes I have read some of that. I have also heard that they are about the same as others with the exception of OKW. (I believe that the AKV standards are around 360 sq ft.) I think the biggest complaint that I have heard is about the lack of closet space. That is not that important to me.

We check in for 1 night to a Value 1 bdr next Saturday. I called last week and added that night because I am so ready to get out of here, we will be there 1 day early:cool1:

It's a Saturday night and it was 34 points.

We move over to 1 Bed Concierge the next night, so I will be able to compare.

I am already thinking that after this, we will only stay in the larger 1 bed with the 2 baths but I had already booked day by day for this ressie and when I found out we would not have the 2 baths, it was too late to book anything else without waitlisting.:santa:

Great thanks. We will be in a 1 br value next July for 11 nights. It will just be DW and I so i think that it will work. And you cant beat the points!

yes. They are a sparate booking category. If you look at the chart, the "V" header shows the point values. The rooms are located in the front wings of the lodge. They are smaller than the rest of the rooms. They are built where the standard AKL rooms were on the 5th floor.

For example, the value studio is about 315 sq ft and a standard AKV studio is 360 sq ft. From what our Lisa S has said, they are the same wifth but are about 3-3.5' shorter in length.

Just got back from a stay in a value studio. It was on the Giraffe trail with a pool view. I can't remember the room number, but it was the last room before the "break" that has windows to the pool on one side and the elevator and ice/vending on the other. Our DS and DDIL had the next room, right after the break.

For those who are wondering, most of the rooms on the other side of the hallway -- with the parking lot view -- are cash resort rooms. We noticed the same arrangement on the Ostrich trail. We explored a bit along the Zebra Trail also. The member laundry room is just up the Zebra Trail from the lobby. Opposite that, on the other side of the hallway, is a big "vice-presidential suite." A staff member told me it's something like 5 bedrooms! :scared1:

The Kudu Trail was not yet open, but looks to be very close.

We didn't really notice the lack of space. We unpacked our stuff, and put suitcases in the wardrobe and also in the closet near the entry, which contained the ironing board and safe. Our DS and her boyfriend we're also staying with us, but we pretty much insisted that the hide-a-bed be made up in the morning, so we had plenty of space. We stacked the two tables that normally sit in front of the sofa in the sink area, which worked out nicely for toiletries, towels, and clothes. At night we put the cushions from the sofa on top of the wardrobe, so we never felt very cramped.

We really like being able to just walk across the hallway and take the elevator down to the pool. We did a lot of hot tub time! :cloud9:

The construction for Kidani is proceeding quickly. I was actually surprised how close it is to the existing lodge. I think those concerned with walking back and forth shouldn't stress about it. Of course, DW and I like to walk, so ymmv.

Thanks for that report. Intersting that the rooms across the hall are cash rooms. I am also glad that you said that the studio did not feel cramped. DW and I (we also love to walk) will be in a 1 br value next July. You can't beat the point values! Any other feedback you can give on the resort and the value room experience is greatly appreciated.

I have pictures of the room right after the window/ice machine on the Giraffe trail with a pool view. Room 5018, studio. It had a closet and a wardrobe, I think because it did not connect into a 1 bedroom. Stayed there 12/6-12/9, will post as soon as I upload them.

Our standard studio did not have a closet. #5412.

Thanks for that report. Interesting that the rooms across the hall are cash rooms.
You can see that on this drawing showing the outline of Jambo House. Looking at the two trails along the front of the resort, on the pool side (the Giraffe trail) only the rooms facing the pool are part of AKV. The rooms facing the parking lot are not included. On the other side (the Ostrich trail) only six of the parking lot view AKL rooms are included in AKV. They became two Value 2BR lockoffs.

Wow, that means that the chance of getting a parking lot view at AKV in Jambo is pretty small.

Lisa, I know that you have the declared units and what type of accomodations is in each. I can't seem to find it. Can you re-post it or point me to it?

Thanks!

I edited my post to include the unit descriptions!

I didn't know there were any pool view value studios. However, a PP talks about having a value studio on Giraffe Trail (whichever that is) that was pool view. Please help (if possible). Now I'm really confused about AKV views in the studios.
