Anyone stayed at the Polynesian?

Don't let anyone scare you about walk times within buildings. Sometimes the walk time between buildings can be the best experience looking at all of the foliage and such. The main pool might be more crowded than normal as the quiet pool is being worked on. If you have a lagoon view at Poly I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially being able to watch the MK fireworks from your balcony (if you get one) or patio.

At age 5, my kids didnt really need a stroller for any park during the day. It was a whole other story at night. They fell asleep during most shows that we were able to sit down and watch. I sure my husband wished we had a stroller with us. He was the one carrying them back to the monorails/parking lots!

Maybe I will skip purchasing ahead of time, try it out sans stroller during the day, and see if we need one later on- and hopefully will still be available. Is just the 2 of us going, and I can not carry him around or back to the monorail if he gets too tired.

There are usually more available at night due to many very young children not going back to the parks after dinner time. If your son is anything like my kids, he will be down for the count. All the nudging and shaking in the world would not wake them up. Epcot was the worst. One time, we watched Illuminations from as far away from the monorail that you could possibly get. Had a great view from a bench! Yahoo! Nope. Our daughter fell asleep and hubby had to carry her back. She weighed about 60 lbs. He was tired too from the long day, starting with Akershus breakfast at 7:30am. On the way back to the monorail, he tried waking her up a thousand times....calling her name, shaking a little etc. Every time he saw a bench, he would sit for 10 minutes and say over and over again "I cant do this. Wake her up!". I was useless. For some unknown reason I thought it was the funniest thing ever and could not stop laughing. I kept telling him if he didnt stop to take breaks we could be back already. He would get up and walk another 10 feet, then try to wake her up again. We FINALLY made it to the monorail When it stopped at the TTC we saw the line to the resort monorail was very long. I told him it probably would be faster to walk back to the Poly. I think I was right. Seemed like much less than 5 minutes and we were staying in Rarotonga, right next to the GCH. As soon as we entered the room, he literally dropped her on the bed and collapsed! This is a guy who works in construction and is very fit. I dont think Gaston could have done what my husband did that night!

Wow, and I thought DGD was a hard sleeper. She's never fallen asleep at Disney. Not without a stroller anyway. But we are always standing and even being flat worn out she's not fallen asleep. What did she do, fall asleep sitting on a bench?

On Daddy's lap :)

I think all 3 of mine fell asleep during the Spirit of Aloha! Heads on the table :)
Another fell asleep during Fantasmic.
Another during Candlelight Procession ! (After a BIG meal at Le Cellier :) )

Thanks. Where can I find information on this - what will the replacement pool look like and when will it be completed?
I don't know for sure on either. It started much later than was originally planned. They are barely started on it now so they may not have a completion date just yet. Disney tends to wait on issuing those till they are further along because 99.99% of things at Disney take longer than expected.
I've also not seen in any mock ups of the completed area.
Try Tikiman's site maybe? If anyone has it, he does.

Thanks. This is why we stayed away from the Poly the last few years. The Poly is my favorite resort and prior to 2012, we never left it off our trips. Since 1998, we have always split our stay between two resorts and the Poly was always one of them, and we have always stayed at the concierge level. But we have been burned too many times at the Poly with their construction schedules. I refuse to pay $800 per night and have to look at brown walls and listen to construction. So, two years ago, we switched from the Poly to the YC. Last year, we scrapped our entire WDW trip and went to USO. I am hoping the construction will be completed by next Spring. Otherwise, we'll pick another resort again.
