I have driven past the resort many years ago, and remember it as being very attractive, but have never stayed there. Anyone stayed there that can offer any pros and cons?

I've never stayed there, but I know it's gotten good reviews on the TUG user group.

yes - but OLCC - what it is called on tug - is on the bulletin board alot - so just go log on to the tug BBS board under Florida - then you can decided if you want to join or not

I would actually be booking this for relatives, so I am not sure I wish to pay to review for them. Not trying to be cheap, but for a one-time use, not sure a membership is worth it to me.

Anywhere else I can go for discussions on timeshare resorts?

I've played golf there, and had friends who own on OLCC. It's got some nice facilities and the units are well appointed and reasonable size. The down side, IMHO is that it can have a mosquito problem ( if they affect you) in the height of summer. For choice, if you're going to be doing Disney, I'd probably prefer Vistana because of the convenience JMHO.

Thanks Vernon for your response, but we are looking at December, so maybe that wouldn't be a problem then.

It's a nice resort, probably fairly equal to OKW in many ways. As good or better in some ways, not as good in other ways. Outside of Marriott's, Hyatt and Embassy, it's one of the top resorts. TUG is only $15 for a year but for a one time fee, that still may not be worth it. Good luck.

Dean, we are actually staying at OKW and getting OLCL for family members. If they decide not to go, we may take OLCL instead of OKW and save OKW points for other trips. You said OLCL better in some ways and not better in others, do you mind comparing in a little more detail for me? Thanks, hate to be a pest, but would appreciate the information.

We own at Orange Lane Country Club (OLCC):
We love it.

1) We have three two-bedroom units, all the same week.
2) We take the ENTIRE extended family the last week of February.
3) The rooms are nice and large, with full kitchens.
4) The golf courses are nicely kept and challenging.
5) They have large pools and a splash lagoon.
6) About 5-miles from WDW.
7) You can hear AK animals from the golf course.
8) Resale 2-bedroom units about $5000-$6000 price.

9) Activities: (free, unless noted)
. . . daily planned activities 9:00am thru 9:00pm
. . . three LARGE pools
. . . splash lagoon
. . . tennis (group and individual)
. . . basketball (group and individual)
. . . 80-acre lake
. . . miniature golf (fee)
. . . ski-doo's (for rent)
. . . sail boating (for rent)
. . . pontoon boats (for rent)
. . . water sprites (for rent)
. . . golf on three courses (fee)
. . . arts and crafts (VERY minor cost)
. . . several restaurants
. . . several snack shops
. . . indoor movie theater
. . . studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom units

We are DVC members (okw) and we have stayed at OLCC 3 times to save on points.. I lOVE OKW but ... OLCC is very very nice and comparable in many ways. I don't even mind the older style single level villas. It's nice.. but one word of caution.. DO NOT stay there in a Studio... they are too small and do not open to the outside.. NO fresh air. I would book a 2 br for relatives any time and not be afraid of the accomodations.

Another great benefit is that you can rent a week in a two-bedroom at OLCC for under $300 total if you play your cards right at Skyauction.com.

Search the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board for "skyauction" to see how.

Others said it better than I. Many like the pool and activities better there. I'd agree on avoiding the studio.

Thanks guys, what we have been offered for a trade is a 2-bedroom. I think we will take it and if family decides not to go, we will stay there and save OKW points for a later trip. I hope the units look as good as the pictures on the Orange Lake website. They look really, really nice.

We were just down at WDW this past May at VWL (studio) while parents were in a two bedroom at Orange Lake. My dad and husband played golf a couple of days while me, mom and baby went to one of the smaller pools, from what I saw it was very nice (they were in one of the high rises nearest the clubhouse). Very nice grounds and condo was very pretty inside.

Thanks for all the input guys, decided to take the trade today. If in-laws decide not to go or can't for health reasons, we will take OLCC and save OKW points for other trips. I am sure someone on a waitlist would be thrilled to get a 2-bedroom at OKW in December if we cancel.

We just got back from staying there. The rooms are nice and big, but thaey are not all the same. The one we stayed at a couple of years ago was near the checkin area, was newer, with a larger master bath. the one this year just had a standard bath.

The biggest problem is the pools, they can be a long walk from some of the units.

With traffic it was about a 10 minute drive. I think it's only about 5 miles from Disney. There are two entrances, one is closer beside Orange Lake shopping center (has a Publix right there) but that entrance closes after 10:00 pm or 11:00. The main entrance is a little further down. I guess it depends on where your unit would be. The entrance beside the shopping center was more convenient for us because it was closer to my parent's unit.
