we are staying at Bonnet Creek for the first time in August. We are DVC members who r getting a chance to save our points by using my mother in laws timeshare at Bonnet Creek. We "popped in" to check the place out in May and while the location is great it didn't give me that wow factor I thought I was going to get. I guess I'm just used to Disney resorts. Can anyone gimme any input to ease my uncertainty of this resort?

Nope. No one has ever stayed there. ;)

More seriously, there are two *long* "We Love Bonnet Creek" threads that you can read to get lots and lots of feedback. We had a wonderful time there. We would put it on par with OKW. They are about the same size, but the WBC units are a bit more sensibly furnished (a real dining room table!) and WBC can be, ironically, "more Disney"---some towers have Epcot views, with the castle and Wishes in the distance. Its location on Buena Vista also makes it more centrally located than the OKW/SSR corner. With the new hotels opening in the complex, the big problem (no sit-down restaurant) will be solved.

You should assume a car is mandatory. There is a shuttle, and it runs reasonably frequently, but I would not want to depend on it. No Disney perks, but other than the transportation, I rarely use them anyway---in five or six weeks onsite, I think I have attended a grand total of two EMHs, and one of them was a mistake on my part---the park got ridiculously crowded very quickly. WBC doesn't have the location advantage of BLT, BCV, or BWV, but then again neither do the other DVC resorts.

YMMV though. If you are the sort for whom Only Disney Will Do, I'm sure you'll find enough to complain about.

We love Bonnet Creek. For us it is much more easy to relax at Bonnet Creek than it is for us when we stay on Disney. Don't get me wrong, we love to stay on Disney also, but Bonnet Creek has a relaxing tone to it for us. We do use the transportation Bonnet Creek provides most of the time and it is much more restricted than Disney's transportation but still operates often enough to meet our needs.

I read where some people take Disney stuffed animals, disney posters, Disney throws for the bed, Disney towels for bathroom, etc to decorate their Bonnet Creek room to give them more of the Disney feel. For me looking out the window and seeing the huge Epcot Globe is Disney enough for me. Have a great vacation.

We stayed onsite for many, many years. When we discovereed BC we decided to try it. We fell in love with the space and amenities (washer/dryers, great kitchens, free mini golf and movies on the lawn). I think if you are open to trying it, you will enjoy it. Is it all Disney, all the time...no. But, as previously noted you can decorate your unit. The one thing we enjoy is parking near your building. Seems like many Disney resorts require a long walk to your room after doing the parks all day :) The lake/fireworks view is fantastic.

I love, love, love Bonnet Creek. It is so close to everything in Disney and offers so much in the way of space, pools, views and activites that I don't miss being at a Disney resort. It is worth a stay - you might fall in love as well. :goodvibes:

However, a car is a must unless you plan on staying all day at the park without going back to the resort.

Not true about complaining cuz i'm not on Disney property, we have stayed at the Vistana a few times and absolutely loved it there. I don't need to see mouse ears at every turn, thats why we like the DVC resorts cuz it's not all in ur face Disney. Thanx for the input I appreciate it.

In this case, I suspect you are *really* going to like Bonnet Creek. I'm in exactly the same boat, and found it wonderful.

Fair warning: Stacy's Must-Dos is on one of the resort TV stations. My wife was *very* disappointed not to be able to escape her.

Well due to it's land-locked state, It's on the Reedy Creek (Read: Disney) Utilities. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if that included Disney Cable.

I don't think so. IIRC, it is real television, not Disney television. The Stacy channel also sometimes shows Universal's promo reel---at least they did when I was there.

HAHAHA!!! I LOVE the Stacy loop. But DH HATES it. Maybe that's why I LOVE it so much! :rotfl:

Nope -- NINETY-NINE channels of REAL TV...including Stacy's breathless adventures!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Makes me tired just thinking about having to watch that.

But dozens of decent choices including local and cable news, sports, business, etc -- the full selection.

We were worried that we WOULDN'T be able to see Stacy! Thanks for sharing that she'll be on our trip next summer, too.

We are DVC members and I can honestly say we like Bonnet Creek every bit as much as Disney properties.
