Anyone stay at 2 resorts at once?

Secondly, please consider other people who might wish to book at the same time as you. If both resorts are close to capacity, one family might not be able to book, all so you can have that extra room.

So I hope you don't end up doing this.

Not trying to flame, but just pointing out that you might be negatively affecting others if you go through with this.

I rent two hotel rooms in Las Vegas all the time, and sometimes three. Well, actually they are free. But it's nice to have a bathroom handy, or just a place to go relax and watch TV for a few minutes. It's a long way from downtown to the Strip, and I like to have a room in both places.

As for him keeping a family from booking, he should do what is in his own financial best interest. I assure you that all families have access to the Internet and to CRO and are able to book rooms at exactly the same time.

Just curious, does a family of four that books two rooms have a duty to all pile into one room to "free up" a room for a family that "needs" one?

More likely, you didn't get an onsite room because June is a very busy month at WDW. You can't blame her for that--if she's paying for the room, it isn't anyone's business where she is or isn't sleeping!

I wan't judging her, I don't care if she flushes her money down the toilet, it just doesn't make sense to have 2 rooms at the same time at 2 different resorts. As I have stated dealing with 2 ECV's can be very difficult so why make things harder.

I did get a room on-site in June and I have been to WDW in June before and it isn't as busy at the time I go. I also didn't directly blame her for that.

No, we are a family of 3 adults who have stayed in a FW cabin and a standard at a value resort, so if I want to book a 2BR villa, then that is my decision, but I will actually be in that room, not in another room at another resort.

That is probably why I almost didn't get a room onsite for my June trip. No, I do waste food, but we aren't comparing food, we are comparing something as expensive as a room. I certaily don't have an additional $500 to $600 to waste, I could use that to add another night or two to my reservation.

We also travel with 2 ECV's and that is why we stay on-site is so that we can use the buses. The only resort we found difficulty using them on the bus was at FW cabins. I have to wait for others on the bus, so if the next time they have to wait a few minutes for me, then oh well. That is why they have 2 spaces on the buses and have buses come often. I am at WDW to have a good time and have never asked for special treatment because we are mobility challenged. It can be a back breaker to lift those scooters, I know because we did it last December when we stayed at FW.

Okay I know this is somewhat off topic, but something you've said has struck a chord with me. If you're mobility challenged and people are waiting for the buses due to your ECV's, how on earth do you lift them into a vehicle?! I have 3 plus herniated discs in my spine with discs that are becoming defused along with tendonitis and I walk everywhere in Disney pain and all (I LOVE the walking), the very (and I mean very) few times I have used an ECV was mainly due to my young son who has low muscle tone and a slight limp and he had about as much as a little guy could take. I could never in my wildest dreams EVER imagine trying to lift one of those puppies!

I'm thinking maybe you're not as mobily challanged as the OP and that is why you're not seeing it from her point of view. The OP is clearly mobility challenged and she wanted to know if anyone else has ever done what she has done and so far no one has, plus she seems very courteous about not wanting to take up bus space (DW could use a few more ECV users like her), but it's due to her condition and if someone else had a mobility problem (like myself who can identifity with her and sympathize) I would assume one would be a little more understanding. I'm not picking on you honestly, but your statement about making people wait for the bus and take up extra space for your ECV's and too bad too sad for them, yet your strong enough to lift it, comes across as a little selfish and suspect to me.

But back to the original subject, the OP is doing what's best for her health and comfort to enjoy her vacation and it's not infringing on your vacation, so I'm having a hard time why it bothers you, especially since you have no problem holding up buses and taking up extra seats for other vacationers when you can lift an ECV?

We usually book 3 or 4 rooms to keep available at all times on our trips... that way we can take whichever resort bus comes first.

First of all the DDP is no deal!!!!!!!!! You are spending an extra $400 to protect a dining plan that doesn't save you anything!
I guarantee I can eat good meals and do it cheaper without the DDP. The DDP was put in for the same reason park passes have gone up 3 times in the last couple of years. To make money for Disney! I have no problem with this. Disney puts on a great show and my family loves going. I also will foot the bill for the theme parks, but it doesn't take a math major to figure out that the DDP costs you. However if you can afford an extra $400 for unused rooms I guess you can afford the DDP.

You don't know me, so you can't ASSume anything about me. Just because I have mobility issues, doesn't mean I can't lift things. I didn't lift it by myself, my husband did most of the lifting, I just guided the wheel in the right direction. The time that we had to do this, we had a minivan, one ECV would not even begin to fit in my car, much less 2 of them. I don't know her issues, but if they take them apart to put them in a car, they are just as heavy. My issues, since you asked, I have a really bad knee and I have very painful plantar fasciitis in my feet, if I have to walk for long periods of time over a great distance, I would not be able to let my feet touch the floor the next day. My mom has severe arthritis, diabetes, and gout, not to mention heart problems that also don't allow her to walk very far without gasping for air.

I am not going to spend that kind of money on a vacation and not enjoy it. I did walk on my first trip, but have developed the plantar fasciitis since then and with the little bit of walking I do at my job, sometimes I can't stand to touch my feet to the floor in the mornings.

Disney has designed those buses for everyone's enjoyment and I am not going to feel guilty for using them. I have never inconvenienced anyone for a space on the bus. I have had to wait many times because a bus was not able to accommodate us.

Feel free to "suspect" me for anything you want to, but although you can't see my problems, doesn't mean I don't feel them. The only reason I use a handicapped entrance is because my mom can't stand in a regular line, she must have a "roll in" shower, she can hardly walk across the room, much less walk all over WDW. I am capable of standing in a regular line and I do for the rides that she doesn't ride, uinless we get a FP and use it like everyone else. I have never asked anyone to make special accommodations for me, only for my mom, but I have to be right there to help her. I also go on my vacations at the less crowded times of year, so as to avoid the large crowds. I never said anything about too bad so sad. I don't like using an ECV, but I do want to enjoy my vacation and since there is no ECV police, I don't know why I am trying to justify this to you.

But back to the original reason, I have already stated that I don't care what she does, but there is such a thing as courtesy and holding a room you aren't using is not courteous.

My rate at POR is under the season special for 6 nights with dining plan for 6 nights. at a cost of 1666. including 7 day park hoppers without water parks.
rate at Swan is 179. per night with tax it is 201. My original POR same package I have for six nights before the code was 2265. So I can do this and still be less than what I originally booked.

All figures rounded (based on two people, since OP says "we" and will have two ECVs):
Seven day park hoppers = $281 x 2 = $562
Six nights dining plan = $38.99 x 6 x 2 = $468
POR room = $106 per night with tax = $94 per night pretax
Two nights at Swan = $402
Total as is = $2,068

The OP can call Disney Reservations and ASK about dropping two nights from the package (methinks it is possible, and actually would have been possible from the beginning, since just because a package is quoted for X nights does not mean that's the only option available.

Seven day park hoppers = $281 x 2 = $562
Six nights dining plan = $38.99 x 4 x 2 = $312
POR room = $106 per night with tax ($94 per night pretax) = $424
Two nights at Swan = $402
Total with four nights at POR = $1,700, plus cost of two days' food.

The OP should also keep in mind that if they leave a credit card on their account at POR, their checkout packet will be on their now-unused room door on the morning after the sixth night (when they're no longer around), and if they don't then they'll have to go back to POR to check out.

I have never done it... but I would. If the $400 extra isn't a big deal, go for it. It will be a nice upgrade for the end of your trip.

I thought they cancelled your reservation if you had two resorts booked for the same time? Or does the Swan/Dolphin not count as a Disney resort for this?

As far as I know CRO will not allow 2 ressies for the same guests at two different Disney owned resorts during the same days.

It may however be possible to book POR through CRO and then book 2 nights during the same period through The Swan /Dolphin directly.(Since the Swan/Dolphin are not Disney owned resorts.

Just remember that if you want you want a package delivered to your resort the last couple of days your package may end up at the other resort.

Just a side note about ECV's.

Most disabilities are invisable and just because a person is able to get off an EVC to walk a few feet for a ride does mean that person is "faking" or does not really need an EVC.

It is not "cool" to judge other person's needs just be looking at them.

I know of several DVC members who booked a room on points ( to stay at) plus booked another room at a value resort ( with cash ) during the prior year's "free dining promo's" and never stayed at the value resort. This was first of all before DVC allowed members to pay and add the dining plan and for some, even after that option became available, came out to be better for them financially. These people did not have the challenges to mobility that the OP is facing which is what is driving her decision. So yes, it has been done, and I don't feel anyone can judge someone else's decision unless they've been in that person's shoes.---Kathy

Dismantling a scooter and putting the parts in the vehicle is a pain but it is not the same as Lifting a scooter, my scooter weighs 235 lbs assembled, disassembled the heaviest part is 45 lbs. still heavy but hardly the same, I cannot personally lift ANY of it my husband does. His problem is only in his feet.

Oh 1 more thing- I don't care if someone books 40 rooms they aren't using, or heck, book the entire Swan resort so that you and your family can have it all to yourself!

If you are a PAYING customer, then fine It's not about being "fair"....you get what you pay for, if you want to pay for 200 rooms and only use 1, I'd be 100% ok with that- not that my opinion matters.....I just don't get the big deal with that...

And one more thing - can we stop the ECV bashing? Please?!!!! Every single time someone on these boards mentions that they use an ECV, someone has something to say about it. It's just crazy. What the heck is everyone's problems with ECV's??? You don't know why they need it, you don't know their disability, so mind your business, for goodness sakes. Personally, I don't think there are too many people wasting their money on renting an ECV just because they don't feel like walking. And, even if they ALL were just a bunch of lazy people, I don't see how it's any of your business.

Okay again, I wasn't judging, I was just pointing out something you said that kind of threw up a red flag that's all and that maybe you can't relate to the OP because you're not as mobily challanged as her. You're stating she is being selfish and then you make a statement like "too bad" or something like that regarding other vacationers and it just kind of struck a chord with me, that's all. I am not doubting your mobility problem, just saying that it clearly cannot be as problamatic as the OP's and that is why you're upset with her, that's all, that's what I meant by "suspect" and "selfish" it was what you said that made me think that. I was probably comparing apples to oranges and didn't mean to upset you, I wasn't picking on you, I was just trying to get you to see that what you do to enjoy your vacation is no different that what others do to enjoy theirs and if it entails renting two rooms then so be it, no different that you taking up bus space that you're entitled to.
