Anyone stay at 2 resorts at once?

......Personally, I don't think there are too many people wasting their money on renting an ECV just because they don't feel like walking. And, even if they ALL were just a bunch of lazy people, I don't see how it's any of your business.

Okay, thanks for "letting" me rant. Have a Magical Day. :hippie: :hippie:

If someone is using a ECV at Disney just because they are "lazy " I think they would find out after the first day the EVC's are very inconvenient especially at Disney.
Those of us using an EVC seem to become "invisible" since able bodied guests are crossing in front of us, stopping in front of us and never seem to see us until it is time for us to load onto a bus. When we are loading onto a bus that is when we become very visible.
It is very hard to drive an EVC in the crowds in the parks.
It is not easy backing up an EVC onto the bus lift and maneuvering the EVC into the tie down is very difficult. I highly doubt "lazy" people would submit themselves to that for long.
Also EVC rental is quite expensive. My EVC cost over $200 to rent for one week. Most "lazy"people would rather spend the money on other things.
The EVC's that are loaded onto the buses are either privately owned or are rented from an offsite company.
I doubt that "lazy" people would think ahead enough to preorder an EVC from an offsite company.

Sure there may be a few people who use EVC's because they are lazy but I am betting they learn quickly it not easy or fun to use an EVC at WDW.
I know I wish I did not need to use one but without an EVC WDW would be inaccessible to me.

Just my 2 cents.

CRO now has a record of all reservations in the system and if someone notices, you'll be required to cancel one.

We had an overlapping reservation at two different resorts with a different arrival date for one, but because one night over lapped we had to cancel one. I did speak with guest services, but we did have to cancel.

We had the second reservation because we could not get all of the nights at that resort, hoping it would open up later, but would have a resort if it did not.

We were not holding up several nights so another guest could not get that room, it was one night.

Some CM's will not say anything, but if you get one who goes by the book, they will make you cancel.

Good luck!!

I don't think I ever said it was the most economical choice it is the covenient and most comfortable choice, that I can do for what I consider a reasonable cost, not cheapest cost.
I was told when I booked the POR package that it was a special for the 6 nights, not five or four. So IF that is the case then cancelling two nights would not only give me two fewer nights on my dining plan but basically cancel my discount plan all together.
Being disabled has a lot to do with why I prefer this method.
anyway, no one has to lose sleep over it LOL!
I have never thought of booking two rooms at the same time. It sounds like you may get the best of both worlds for a reasonable cost. If this type of arrangement will make for a more relaxed and more enjoyable vacation for you, then I say go for it. However, my first thought is that it may be more trouble than it is worth to deal with two simultaneous rooms, regardless of the cost.

We are trying a split stay for the first time next weekend...2 nights at the Poly and 3 at the Swan....cannot wait! I dont think it will be too much of a pain since we have our own car with us.

Just going to touch on the ECV thing one more time, then I'm done with it. I agree with what you said, that is the reason I would rather walk with pain then go through the troubles you've stated above. I don't mind the expense, but I'm not crippled (although I feel like it right now :sad1: ) so I wouldn't bother to rent one for the week nor do I need it 100% all the time there, only when it becomes unbearable but more for my child to make him comfortable. I agree with everything you said about backing up, the crowds, etc, it's not easy, it's more comfortable, yes, but definitely not easy. I just had a beautful 8 days in Disney World and walked the entire time (it really has more to do with the standing for me, my spine can't handle it, but the walking is good for the discs, kind of a double edged sword) and now I am paying for it dearly and so is my DS, I have excruiating pain right now, am in bed and on medication and going to PT, but to me it was worth it, it will settle down in a week or two, but ds has to go to the orthopedic on Monday because his hip pain is not stopping, I wish I rented something for him, but he wasn't complaining then, I feel bad :guilty:

Again, I feel for everyone who uses ECV's, don't want anyone to think I was being insensitive, just reacting to a statement that struck a chord with me, but not in anger.

Thanks everyone! :)

As far as I know CRO will not allow 2 ressies for the same guests at two different Disney owned resorts during the same days.

It may however be possible to book POR through CRO and then book 2 nights during the same period through The Swan /Dolphin directly.(Since the Swan/Dolphin are not Disney owned resorts.

Just remember that if you want you want a package delivered to your resort the last couple of days your package may end up at the other resort.

Just a side note about ECV's.

Most disabilities are invisable and just because a person is able to get off an EVC to walk a few feet for a ride does mean that person is "faking" or does not really need an EVC.

It is not "cool" to judge other person's needs just be looking at them.

Just my 2 cents

I really appreciate what you said about using ECV's. They sure can be a pain and you wouldn't believe the # of people that walk into me as if I'm not there and then act like it is my fault. I know how to handle one, because I use them quite a bit in recent years with several knee injuries, so it is not like I am a first time user.

I and I'm sure my mother would love not to have to use one and I am hoping one day that is the case for me, but know it isn't for mom. We miss alot of park time or miss seeing attractions becasue of the time it take to load and unload an ECV, not to mention having to wait for a HC accessible attraction car (for mom), I have to make all kinds of special arrangements for HC accessible rooms, so we don't just say lets book a room and go, because we have to coordinate so much.

I would certainly rather use that money to buy souveniers or eat at Artist Point.

This is another reason I will rent an ECV as long as I feel like I need it. I don't have two weeks to recooperate from a vacation, I have to return to my job within a couple of days after returning home.

I don't understand what your son has to do with it anyway. If he is a child, he can't rent an ECV anyway and it is against company policy for him to ride on one with you.

I find it interesting that you talk about "you don't know me" and "I don't know why I am trying to Justify this to you" When that is exactly what you are doing with me.

Dismantling a scooter and putting the parts in the vehicle is a pain but it is not the same as Lifting a scooter, my scooter weighs 235 lbs assembled, disassembled the heaviest part is 45 lbs. still heavy but hardly the same, I cannot personally lift ANY of it my husband does. His problem is only in his feet.

and you and I will have to agree to disagree about your last remark about courtesy

Nope my response here had nothing to do with you. Yes, I used your situation as an example, though.

You know, you started this thread, knowing this could happen, but then you get ugly to those that respond (me in particular), you shouldn't post if you can't handle the responses.

Can we assume you used the caps lock key in error???

My guess from her response is there was no errors involved :rolleyes1

To the OP, I would definitely call and see if S/D qualifies under that rule, because now that I think of it, a CM tried to cancel one of our trips because they were a month apart! I had to explain myself to her, that we were going again with my family for a quick trip and she said "you cannot hold 2 reservations" I said, what does it matter to Disney if I stay again in a month? Well I asked to speak to a supervisor and apparently it didn't matter to Disney, just to that CM :sad2: I wish they had the automatic survey then, I would have pressed a lot of 5's!

Well to the OP I hope it works out for you, but definitely due your homework so they don't cancel the reservation on you!

Okay again, I wasn't judging, I was just pointing out something you said that kind of threw up a red flag that's all and that maybe you can't relate to the OP because you're not as mobily challanged as her. You're stating she is being selfish and then you make a statement like "too bad" or something like that regarding other vacationers and it just kind of struck a chord with me, that's all. I am not doubting your mobility problem, just saying that it clearly cannot be as problamatic as the OP's and that is why you're upset with her, that's all, that's what I meant by "suspect" and "selfish" it was what you said that made me think that. I was probably comparing apples to oranges and didn't mean to upset you, I wasn't picking on you, I was just trying to get you to see that what you do to enjoy your vacation is no different that what others do to enjoy theirs and if it entails renting two rooms then so be it, no different that you taking up bus space that you're entitled to. I was NOT talking about your mom at all, that's not what I was referring to nor was I looking for an explaination about your condition, just trying to make a point so that you would somehow try and see the OP's side of things and not judge them and believe they were somehow infringing on your vacation. That's all.

I know it's not cool to judge people's mobility problems, I was just struck by your statements. That's all :flower3:

I never said too bad. I said "Oh well". I also said that I have had to wait for a second bus if the one that came was unable to accommodate us, but then someone else might have to wait when we are on the bus and come to their stop. Being selfish abount riding on a bus and holding an empty room are two entirely different subjects. If I get to the bus stop before other people and get on first, I don't feel like that is being selfish. I would never push my way on before others, however it is in Disney policy that anyone on an ECV or in a wheelchair are to be loaded first. I have been willing to stand back and wait for the next bus, if there was already a group waiting, but I do as the bus driver directs me. That is why we go when it isn't as crowded and we usually try to make it to a bus stop when it is empty, so no one will have a problem or cause a scene. I am on vacation to have a good time, not to fight about who gets on the bus first or last.

I am not upset with the other poster, except with the fact that she is taking up a room that could have been booked to another family, and I am not upset, I just think it is wrong. She isn't infringing on my vacation at all, we aren't even going to be there at the same time. She asked if someone else had 2 rooms at 2 resorts at the same time and I gave my opinion, just as others did.

Okay, it is you who is now ASSuming what someone did, how on earth did they know you were going to jump in and highjack this thread and get nasty? They were looking for information and there are some of us here who are interested in giving it to them and some very curious about the reason why. However, you just came out with guns blazing stating that the OP was infringing on your vacation and then got rude.

You're just being nasty and I am going to say you put this thread on a fast track to lock down.

No errors, you have to read between the lines on that one. If anyone needs to know what I meant, I will be glad to PM you. :upsidedow

Nope, not being nasty, but I could be, but won't. Didn't assume anything, just responding just like everyone else did. I read it fact for fact what she typed.
