Anyone seen a Raven-Symoné concert?

Your local one Great Adventure.

There are a few concerts that are pay there this season. Raven was one.
No, I was at that concert. It was free.

I think she is now going by Raven ala Bono, Madonna, Cher, Mandisa....

Anyway.. she played at pay concert at Six Flags a while back. Not many stars do pay concerts at Six Flags--they usually aren't diva-ish enough to ask for more money.

Raven was though!

Wow, that's kind of judgmental :confused3 Why is it diva-ish for a television/movie/recording star with the number one show on the Disney Channel to charge admissions for some of her shows? Could she possibly be donating the money to the Make-A-Wish Foundation? Also, after seeing a list of some of the previous Six Flags performers, she is probably one of the few that people WOULD pay money to see. There seem to be a lot of performers that are not popular right now, so a lot of people probably wouldn't pay to see them. Now Raven, she's hot right now so Six Flags knows that people will pay to see her.

Sorry for the soapbox, but I'm a little sensitive about people passing judgment and assuming things about celebrities.
:guilty:

Interesting. The signage out front and some concert pamphlet stated that the Raven concert was a pay benefit concert to support some charity. (Boys and Girls club I think).

Yes, I understand the need to support charity, but at whos expense? She certainly has the money to do it on her own.. without gauging others at Great Adventures especially since she is doing FREE concerts other places.

I'm a little irritated at Raven since she became the producer of her show. She made some interesting decisions such as firing Tkeymah Cryrstal (the one who played the mother). I don't think at first Raven was the producer and then she became the producer. Tkeymah Crystal is an extremely talented woman, and to fire her.. without even a goodbye episode was cheesy!

I feel that Raven show is getting repetitive and jumping the shark. They are doing the "kiss of death jump the shark move" by adding not one but TWO younger child cast members (the Stanley and Sydney characters). How many shows survived after young cast members? Remember Growing Pains, Brady Bunch, Family Ties, and even the Cosby Show?

Did you go this year? or last year?

Last years concert was free.. this years was not.

I went to this years concert. There was a $35 admission ticket that was sold to benefit the Boys & Girls Club. Once you got in, the concert was free. We are Season Pass holders, so there was nothing for us to put. I thought that you had to buy a seperate ticket for the concert at first too. The wording on their website was misleading(diliberately I believe). I called and asked and she said whether you bought the $35.00 Boys & Girls club ticket, regular admission, or if you had a Season Pass, the actual concert was free.

I agree with you about Tkeymah. I didn't realize Raven fired her. Will she be on Cory's show?

I had not heard that Raven was the reason that Tkeymah wasn't there anymore. Now I don't know much, but I do wonder where the fault lies. Remember, she was let go from In Living Color, too.

I read a few indsustry publications and these publications hint that Raven is a bit of control freak and likes things HER way. The story as I read it, was Raven became producer and fired a bunch of people, with Tkeymah being the only performer. Tkeymah is very talented and didn't deserve that brush off. Didn't many people leave In Living Color? I thought there were few cast changes. I'd love to see her in Kyle Massey's show-- I thought she was great! Her writing was terrible, but she did the best with what she had.

Interesting about this years concert. We wanted to go, but we asked the customer service and they said you HAD to have the fee. We are also season passholders. Great Adventure customer service at its finest!

There were many cast changes, but Tkeymah was the only one that I heard of that was actually fired. Who knows what to believe, since i wasn't there. And let's not even talk about the tabloids :confused3 I like Raven because I don't see her in the tabloids all of the time. :teeth:

Speaking of the concert. The next day I went on the Great Adventure Source(GADV.com) website to see the new pics they had up and found a pic of my DD9. Here's the link if anyone wants to see it. She's kind of hard to pick out of the crowd, but she's in the 9 o'clock position with a black Raven shirt on and sunglasses.

Ok, here are a couple pics from the concert. I know I need a camera with a better zoom, but Raven is the one in the white shirt.

We saw Raven this evening at our state fair. She was great- what was even better was the price- FREE with admission to the fair ($6 for 11 and up- under 11 for free!) So for $6 I took my 3 kids and DDs friend. They had a blast. They were dancing like maniacs- She had a pretty good tweeny-bopper type rapper open up for her, too. Raven was full of energy, and the dancing was great to watch.

Thanks for the Link to the Raven site. My 6yo son loves her lol!!! It's kind of funny! He waited to watch the Cheeta Girls the other day perform on some show, and Raven wasn't there. He kept saying when's Raven coming on. When she didn't come on, he said oh-- Raven was late. He was so sad hehehe! Cracks me up though. He has a thing for Hanna Montana too, and Gwen Stefani.

Was the rapper a little girl named P Star? That's who we saw at Great Adventure. She was actually really good. Her father was her DJ.

No- the rapper was a guy (or 2 guys) Little J (or Lil Jay or some variation) and DeVon or something like that. I am just going on memory- I wasn't paying much attention but the kids - even my 3 year old- were dancing up a storm and loving it.
