Hubby wants to go, but tickets start at $39, uh thing is he has already read his books, listens to his show constantly, and frequents his webiste. We already are big savers and know what we are doing. He is Dave obsessed, he is so passionate about him though I told him I'd go if he'd like, of course I have in the back of my head this could be a waste of almost $80
So has anyone gone, is it worth it? What do you think?

We went, but we got discounted tickets for just a few bucks so I don't know if I would spend that...Didn't do anything in particular for me but really fired up DH so YMMV.

let me help you get out of debt by spending $80 to watch me live! tickets selling fast, buy buy buy :sad2:

I would probably fall asleep if I watched him live.

I was thinking myself it sounded very pricey especially since the subject matter is to save money :confused3

This is where the wheels come off for me with any guru, be it financial planning, how to pick stocks, how to flip houses, or any other self help plan. When the majority of their income comes from giving advice I begin to wonder how in touch with the real world they are. I have listened to DR and while I find a few ideas useful, I tend to disagree with a lot of what he says because quite frankly it makes no sense. I have a MBA in Finance and can show you a lot of basic flaws with his techniques.

My advice, save the $80 and put it on a debt, or save it. It will help a lot more than seeing him in person.

Seems odd to me as well that someone that is so anti-debt would want you to spend $40 / pp to here him tell you how to save money? Kinda makes you wonder about his true motives.

We went several years ago. "Worth it"? Depends on how you define that term. It was an enjoyable, informative evening and we didn't walk out feeling cheated. OTOH, I didn't hear anything there that I hadn't heard from him on his radio show or read in his books.

This is the thing about Dave, IMHO: I don't get wrapped around the axle that he offers other products for a price. You can learn his system for free--get his book from the local library and listen to him on the radio. The other stuff he charges for is helpful but not necessary. If you never buy a thing from him, you can still be successful.

We went last year. We thought the tickets were too much too. A few days before the event they discounted tickets to $15 apiece (plus the ticketmaster fees).

It was fun since we are Dave junkies, but it wasn't any new material. We did enjoy meeting some of the other people there who were doing the program and met some people who had been doing it longer who were very successful which was a motivator for us.

Call Dave and tell him your situation, tell him you want to spend $80 on concert tickets (don't tell him its his show)and see what he says.. :)

then you can go for free. Or many times when tix are first released they're like $9 or something...or check ebay?

If $80 hurts, don't do it.

Best of luck!

Trish
